I can’t believe what I just read. I just heard that BJ Penn will be fighting Sean Sherk for the 155 pound title in November. I think Penn will win it easy. I just think the Prodigy will over match him with technique. I don’t think Sherk’s strength will translate in this particular fight to him being stronger. I actually think Penn will be much stronger and that he will be able to submit Sherk. I am surprised UFC is not having Penn rematch against George St Pierre, Matt Hughes or even Matt Serra. Any one of those match ups would be more exciting. I have watched BJ Penn’s old fights. One in particular that was extremely entertaining was his fight against the Japanese Pride FC superstar TakanoriGomi. Gomi has 27 wins and 3 losses and usually wins by knockouts. Penn dominated him for 3 rounds and beat him by submission. That will tell you how good Penn is in that weight class. I just googled to see if that video is still up somewhere. You can watch the video on google just by typing in Penn vs. Gomi. The one I saw was in Japanese commentary but I guarantee you will enjoy that fight. Let’s see if I am right about the November result.
is it me or does it seem like the pride fighters are jinxed when they step into the cage. wow! i feel bad for these guys. once ufc bought them out, they found themselves waiting for a fight. the sad part is that dana white is not going to give them any fights. he is going to wait them out, and when they are desparate to sign for a big fight, he is going to sign them for less money. i’m curious to see what happens. it seems like dana has the guys he loves, hughes,franklin,silvia and couture. the only one in my opinion who is a good rep. of ufc, and seems very humble is couture. the rest are pre-madonna’s who are ex champs. i’m glad it turned out that way. not that i wish anything bad on these guys, cause i like to watch them fight, but you can tell they are jerks when you watch the reality show. they show their true colors. the only person that i liked, who talked a bunch of smack was ali, but he is on a higher level than these guys.
So true. I agree with you 100%. When Ali did talk smack, I think his purpose most of the time was comedic. You know, like calling the other fighters ugly and himself handsome.
