I just sold another comic book through a buy it now EBay feature I was offering at $25. It was in near mint condition and less than a year old. It cost me 70 cents to list it. This was a comic book that didn’t sell last week. Re-listing is free if it sells the second time. I have 9 more of these specific collectible comics, but they don’t usually sell that fast. The 2 other fees I get charge will be the final value fee which is $1.12 and the paypal fee $2.17. So the grand total to sell this comic book is $3.99. The comic book itself cost me about $4.50. So not including my time, I will net about $16.50. This is definitely higher than what I would usually make on a regular comic. This was the amazing spider-man 529 comic book which is a milestone because he has a costume change. In about 5 years the book if kept in its current condition could get in the $50-$60 range. I have a few other spider-man comic books that I am currently hoarding that are about 10 years old and in the ultimate spider-man storyline. They usually sell for about $300-$500 a comic book. If they are professionally graded by CGC at 9.8-10.0, they go upwards to $1,000-$1,500 The reason why these go up so high is because they are retailer incentives and usually have an extremely limited printing of about 5,000. Because that is so low, comic book collectors pay a big premium for them on EBay. These are comics you usually can’t pick up at your local comic store. When I get a chance I will create a new page with scans of the highly collectible comics.
If the comic book I had sold today had been professionally graded it could actually sell between $60-$100. At least that is what the going prices are on EBay. It costs about $25 to get the professionally graded and you normally have to wait for them for about a month to get slabbed which is a hard plastic casing with the official CGC seal of authority.
This will be my 3rd EBay sale since I started. It’s really important to keep perfect as well as recent feedback. I am now back in the game. When my list becomes more substantial, I will put out a spreadsheet. For now, I have the stuff I am selling rotating in the picture box at the bottom of this blog.
