Craigslist is cool

There are certain websites I like to frequently visit daily. One is this blog to see if anyone else has visited other than myself. The others are my favorite blogs to see if they have any new posts, my multiple email addresses, eBay, amazon, netflix, and craigslist: the online version of the pennysaver but so much better. I have to admit, most of my surfing I do is usually for research or knowledge driven.

Craigslist is actually a pretty useful sight. It has a simple look with no graphics on the home page. It gives me a good feel about an area or community anywhere in the world. I personally use it to peruse houses and condos I can’t afford and in areas I wish I could live or just want to check out. I love checking out pictures for sale by owners. I am definitely one of those looky-loos. I cover so much ground in such little time. It is kind of like redfin but seems more personable because the owners will be very descriptive in their summaries and the photos they take capture the mood of the living areas. Of course, all in the convenience of your own home. I love condos that have wood floors. Both fake and real wood give it that modern classy appearance. I also am attracted to condos with a city or water view. That is why I think I like Seattle and San Diego so much. Their high rise condos seem to have plenty of those types of views. When my wife and I stayed at the Sheraton hotel in Seattle, we were able to stay on the 22nd floor. It is awesome at night and breathtaking during the day. We checked out the top floor which is 35th floor I believe. They had an enclosed pool, jacuzzi, and work out room up there. The panoramic views were spectacular. My wife and I both took a lot pictures. Feel free to check out my pictures on flickr. The links are on the sidebar.

Now, I have never bought anything from anyone through craigslist. I really don’t like the idea of the face to face meetings with a stranger. I just like to buy stuff online and have it delivered. Once, I sold something on EBay, and the buyer lived nearby and wanted to pick up the item from me directly. Obviously, meeting strangers isn’t my cup of tea and stamps aren’t that expensive, so he wound up paying for postage.

A good friend of mine listed some furniture on craigslist and he got 2 offers to buy without the buyers even checking it out. Obviously, a red flag for some type of scam. I googled it on the internet and sure enough, it is some variation of the Nigerian scam. Of course, my friend saw right through this as soon as he read the email. Scammers are always preying on the greedy factor.
