I was checking out my favorite blogs and I found this neat article through a link: Ride like the British. I have actually ridden on a double decker in Los Angeles when I took a bus tour of the city, but it wasn’t modern like this. I think this is a great way to maximize mass transit. I am actually jealous we don’t have this down in orange county. I guess this is definitely another reason to move to the coffee capital of the world. OK, I don’t really know if it actually is the coffee capital of the world, but this is where the original Starbucks started. I have a picture of the place in one of my first blog entries.
Anyways, this may catch on in more cities if the price of gas continues to go up. When we start thinking that $3.00 a gallon for gas is cheap, then the gas companies know it is time to raise the prices up. Forget supply in demand, the oil companies keep posting record profits. More than Bill Gates’ Microsoft company, more than Sam Walton’s Walmart, or my personal favorite site EBay combined. Hard to believe, but I read it on the internet so it’s got to be true. And all the oil company does is sell gasoline. They don’t really need to spend money advertise it. We all use it. Back in the 70’s, the oil companies were accused of collusion. This is dejavu. Are the oil companies cheating the American public?! Let’s put it this way, Starbucks sells it yummy coffee for $5 a shot and the gas companies still make 10 times more than all the Starbucks in the world combined.
