Flipping out, stock market update 9-6-07 8:00 pm + waiting for the next housing bubble news

I think my TV show Flipping Out is over. It has some type of open house show next week but I think for all intents and purpose the show is done. Jeff was still a character and had his animal see a pet psychic to make sure they were ok moving. He also brags about moving 27 times in the last 8 years because he lives in the houses he flips. At then end of the show, he has a mandatory “we appreciate you party” that no one seemed to want to attend. However, he was sincere in his gratitude and thanked everybody one by one. He sold his big house and is liquid again. I believe he will continue to flip houses and adjust to the economy. I do hope Bravo makes another series of shows with him on it. If not, I guess I will have to go back to watching these shows:

Property Ladder

Discovery Home’s “Flip That House”

A&E’s “Flip This House,”

HGTV’s “Bought and Sold,”

Bravo’s “Flipping Out”

TLC’s “Real Estate Pros.”

DrHousingBubble does credit these shows in glamorizing the real estate frenzy in one of latest posts  “The real cost of a white picket fence…”.  I definitely agree with that. People making fast money even though there improvements were awful or ugly, just because people wanted to get in on the market action. His article is a great analysis of how history is repeating itself and he shows great examples from the 1920’s.

The 3 indexes originally started out negative and turned it around before the day ended. It is a short week because of labor day, and the volume on the market is light. It is nice to have all 3 end up regardless.

DOW 13,363.35 +57.88
NASDAQ 2,614.32 +8.37
S&P 500 1,478.55 +6.26

That is too many house shows. I wonder how fierce the competition is?

Hi Al Ebaster, Most of these shows are just re-runs. I think their popularity is dying out. On one of them they show a fast foward to what actually happened 2 years later and many seem to get in at the downtrend and not able to sell. Because of the housing bubble burst and many flippers getting burned now, these shows won’t last that much longer.
