My web page is taking too much time to load. I had someone send me a comment on MyBlogLog pointing it out. At first, I thought it was the numerous wallpapers that you can change by pressing the tiles at the top. My wife made mention to me that she noticed a dramatic slowdown and that something was causing my pages to hang up. She confirmed it wasn’t the wallpapers and to be blunt, she is usually right. My first thought when a page takes too long to load is that their server is down. Of course, just like you, I really don’t like waiting for pages that take forever to load. I will come back later.. or not.
My wife thinks it all the videos I embed from youtube and other sites. I have reason to believe her because she is always right. Oh, did I say that already? Of the 100 disagreements we may have had in our past 21 years together, I think I have less than a 3 percent win ratio. ;( (My wife is laughing in the background and correcting me “not even 1 percent”). So to try to alleviate the web page slow load, I have changed the posts that show up as just one. Hopefully, this will speed it up and make your visit here more enjoyable without any clogging up.
I do suspect that the sidebar widgets Romlets, MyBlogLog, BlogCatalog, WeBetUr, and Bumpzee may also be contritibuting to the slowness. Inside each of those avatars are the links of all the sites of other bloggers’ blogs. I like it because I can see who are my recent viewers, which I will often click on as a shortcut to read their blogs. Also, I just like the way it looks. I am considering changing them from 50-60 faces to only 5 faces.
The cluster map and world vistior map maybe the culprit as well. I added those just recently too and notice on my status bar that it takes a second or two for those to load up the stats. I really like looking at all those flags and imagining being able to visit all those countries one day. Yeah, in my dreams. lol

I suspect it could be the various blog community widgets – I’m having some problems especially with bumpzee – while my pages generally load the content but it seems to hang when bumpzee comes along.
Haven’t figured out how to solve it tho’.
Also, I personally won’t suggest showing only one post – this’ll mean we have to click on another link to see the next coupla earlier posts.
Haha, yeeah…I think your wife sounds like a smart woman (plus, I think I’d cry if you took away your nifty wallpaper changer!). Your background and sidebar loads first, and then come the post. I’ve MBL and Blog catalog widgets, as well as that “Addthis!” bookmarking widget on my page and don’t seem to have any problems with loading speed…so perhaps that isn’t the problem either?
Until it’s fixed, I think about YC’s recommendation is good…that if it’s going to take a longer time to load might as well load more than 1 post. =)
Hi YC,
I was thinking of just removing my Bumpzee if I can’t figure out how to load it faster. I am guessing these community widgets send pings to each of the web sites. When I get home from work I will experiment and reduce them to 5 or 10 faces each. I also notice my visitor flags widget hanging up too. I guess I will put it back to 2 posts. Thanks for the feedback. It helps.
Hi Joanne,
Yes, I was smart enough to marry someone smarter than me. I think it might just be the Bumpzee widget and the Total visitors by country widget that are the culprits. You make a good point so I will make sure there is more than 1 post up.
I just took out the Bumpzee widget and put it back up to 3 posts. Seems to be loading normally again. What do guys you think?
I had a slow loading page when I used blogcatalog widget, I ended up taking it off and my site loads within 5 seconds from all around the globe, visit this site to test how fast your site loads from different servers around the world..

Hi Andy,
Thanks for the comment. I was thinking the same thing. I will check out the site and see what it says. I appreciate it.
I just got back from that site, Andy, it’s pretty cool. Thanks again.
Wow! You better do something fast because it is sooo slow any normal person would leave.
Hey DayJobNuker, I made some quick changes and updated the site. I think it is definitely loading up faster than before. Thanks,
