First, I want to thank Corey who not only runs marathons but runs multiple blogs, for giving me the Awesome Guy blogger award. Please check out all her excellent sites and drop her a comment. She is very cool and an awesome blogger to boot.

I read that it is best to keep your posts short. I am guilty of not doing that. Most blogger readers just scan read vs read read, so the reasoning is if it is long then they will not really want to read it. Another rule of thumb is to keep the post focused on just one subject. That is definitely something I neglect. I like to post on 2-3 things of interest to me that are sometimes related but most times not, which of course in turn makes it a longer post. I guess that makes me a blog sinner. Lol.

I am getting about 90-100 visits a day or so which is split between about 70-75 new people and 20-25 returning visitors. I really appreciate everyone who drops by. This is really awesome for me and makes me feel great. My technorati shot up today to 48. That seems a bit odd because my blog reactions didn’t really go up in proportion, so there must be something else that makes it go up. My guess is the more comments I get the higher it goes. If you know or even think you know, please comment and share.

I just updated my site and tweeked it a bit. I reduced the number of avatars to 25 in each MyBlogLog and BlogCatalog widget, took out the bumpzee, and that seemed to help speed it up.

There is a free Showtime MMA event this weekend that will showcase some former UFC fighters including Robbie Lawler, Nick Diaz, and a few more great fighters.

ELITEXC: SEPTEMBER 15, 2007 ON SHOWTIME
-Robbie Lawler vs. Murilo “Ninja” Rua
-Jake Shields vs. Renato “Charuto” Verissimo
-Nick Diaz vs. Mike Aina
-Joey Villasenor vs. Riki Fukuda
-Gina Carano vs. Tonya Evinger

I also heard through the grapevine that Pro-elite and King of the Cage are merging. This will be good for the sport and will probably mean more free shows with better known fighters. UFC isn’t worried yet but they should be. On top of getting ready to sign Fedor, the number 1 ranked heavyweight in MMA, Mark Cuban is making headway with his own network HDNET which will also be showing mma fights for free if you get those channels. I am guessing that either UFC will start doing more free PPVs or the prices will go down. After all, if mma fans have multiple outlets to watch free mma shows, why would they pay when they don’t have to. The fighters themselves will become more of an asset and can do it full time under these new organizations willing to pay them a salary instead of being cornered into an unfair contract. Competition makes everything better.

The stock market indexes finished up. I may have made the wrong decision to go all cash yesterday, but I have no regrets since my gains are locked in and no longer just paper gains. I am ready to start again but now the stress is all gone.

DOW 13,424.88 +133.23
NASDAQ 2,601.06 +8.99
S&P 500 1,483.95 +12.39

Your blog loads so much faster now! :)

Congrats on the award - pretty cool! What I like about your blog’s actually the variety in each post - never know what you’re gonna get, other than the market movements. ;)

  2. CHESSNOID, September 13, 2007:

Yeah! thanks YC, I was hoping they would load up faster too. Yeah that was really nice of the cyberpenguin for the award. I am glad you enjoy it. I have always been interested in the stock market since I was 18 in college so its just habit for me.

NEWS UPDATE - SYDNEY AUSTRALIA - OFF TOPIC

Sydney is recovering well, after 2 hectic weeks of APEC.

As a result of pre-APEC media coverage education that included constant updates for the general public on what they will or might encounter during this time, Sydney residents should congratulate themselves on how well they reacted and performed, after dealing with this intrusive and expensive extravaganza.

Even with some minor hiccups along the way, there was no major incidents that could have wrecked this meeting of world leaders.

Sydney and the world now wait, with anticipation, that something truely positive will come of this and that it has NOT been a waste of time and money.

Well, Chessnoid - that is my two cents worth. I don’t know what your readers heard or saw concerning this incident called, “APEC” but it would be interesting to hear what the rest of the world thought of it!

Good blog & page, good day!

    Hi Peter,
I do hope many positive things come out of the APEC meeting. I would love to hear everyone’s opinion on it.
