A lil sumptin sumptin, John Chow, technorati 54, and stock market update 9-14-07 6pm

I am not big on diamond type jewelry but I do admire a lot of lampwork types of beads by artisans. My wife has a ton of cute jewelry beads. I actually have a golden retreiver bling at the end of my cell phone. My sister had seen it and wanted it, but it is a one of a kind so she is out of luck. lol. I noticed on Alilsumptinsumptin’s recent post, she has a similar dog bead that looks like mine, except it is a different breed and has a bone in its mouth.

My technorati authority continues to jump everyday. Today it is up to 54. This is really surprising to me, because even though I understand the theory of why it goes up, it is another thing to see it in practice. My goal at this point is just to increase my readership base. My technorati was at 0 just a month ago. Straight from the site technorati authority and rank it explains what this specifically mean.

Technorati Authority is the number of blogs linking to a website in the last six months. The higher the number, the more Technorati Authority the blog has.

It is important to note that we measure the number of blogs, rather than the number of links. So, if a blog links to your blog many times, it still only count as +1 toward your authority. Of course, new links mean the +1 will last another 180 days.

Technorati Rank is calculated based on how far you are from the top. The blog with the hightest Technorati Authority is the #1 ranked blog. The smaller your Technorati Rank, the closer you are to the top.

This blog isn’t monetized per se, but I am thinking about launching multiple blogs for the purpose of just making money. That will entail a lot more time and effort, but I guess the one thing I have going for me is I love to blog. I checked out John Chows site again to see where he is making his money to get some ideas. He outlines the importance of having different income streams as any one of these programs can change at any time. This is a good practice in diversification. I must admit he is good at monetizing his blog. Here is his breakdown:

I know he just updated the look and he actually has a ton of great material, but I always get turned off when I see all the ads. That is probably why I don’t visit more often. I always feels his ads are screaming at me. I must admit it is better than before when he had the 2 race cars in on his banner. On his site, I came across a link to website grader which has a free SEO tool. It basically told me areas I needed improvement in which was basically everything. Lol. ;) Here is a summary of my site:

Section www.totalnoid.com
Website Grade 73
Google Page Rank 0
Alexa Rank 732,147
Technorati Rank 107,981
Google Inbound Links 0
Yahoo Inbound Links 1,725
Delicious Saved Count N/A
Google Indexed Pages 419

If you haven’t tried it yourself, you should because it will teach you how to improve your site for SEO purposes. It gives further explanations on top of the summary on how to actually correct and improve different areas of your site.

The market closed above the line today, but was constantly struggling throughout the day.

DOW 13,442.52 +17.64
NASDAQ 2,602.18 +1.12
S&P 500 1,484.25 +0.30
