Crude oil $80 barrel, more Vanessa Hudgens pictures, OJ Simpson caught, Barry Manillow boycotts the View, Sally Fields censored + stock market update 9-17-2007 11:30pm

The price for a barrel of gas is $80 and the highest price it has ever been, but the price at the pump is not moving in conjunction with it this year. That makes me suspicious that the gas companies are doing some manipulation here. In the last 5 years since we have gone from the price of:

2002 $1.58 per gallon

2003 $2.03 per gallon

2004 $2.06 per gallon

2005 $3.00 per gallon

2006 $2.85 per gallon

2007 $2.70 per gallon

I took the prices from the California Energy Commission for the September months of 2002-2006. For 2007, that is just the price I took from my local gas station. The price per barrel for the last 6 years were:

2002 $22.51 per barrel

2003 $27.54 per barrel

2004 $38.93 per barrel

2005 $46.47 per barrel

2006 $58.30 per barrel

2007 $80.36 per barrel

I took the prices from the Inflation Data for 2002-2006. For 2007, that is the price from yesterday’s close. I usually don’t follow commodities and experts will argue that they have no correlation with each other, but every single time the price of crude went up in the past, I would feel it at the pump. Remember, right now oil companies are still posting record profits that dwarf the profits of our biggest tech companies combined. I wonder why the gas companies are keeping the price of gas for us so low.

Vanessa Hudgens has more nude photos leaked. Is this accidental or is there an ulterior motive. These pictures are supposedly more racy because she is with another girl which suggests she likes girls too. Duh. I know she is a young lady of 18, but are these really private pictures and, if so, why are her “friends” putting them out on the internet? Or is this a Hollywood way of advertising yourself into more adult roles?

OJ Simpson in the Las Vegas spotlight. I heard the alleged audio of him blasting someone with some profanity. I think he is toast. I think he is going to prison and because of the way he is acted since he got off the murder charges, lots of people just hate him. He is definitely going to prison and serving time.

I heard on TV that some celebrity canceled his appearance on the View show. So I looked it up online and read

” TMZ has learned that legendary singer Barry Manilow has pulled out of his scheduled appearance on “The View” tomorrow — because he strongly disagrees with host Elisabeth Hasselbeck’s conservative view! Paging Rosie O’Donnell!”

I don’t like Hasselbeck because she is one of the few who think President Bush is doing a great job, that we are winning the war in Iraq, and that there really are weapons of mass destruction there. She thinks that the nuclear missiles were secretly hauled away by camels to North Korea.

I watched the Emmys last night and for some reason Fox censored any liberal views about the war. Sally Fields won her award and they beeped her for saying

“And, let’s face it, if the mothers ruled the world, there would be no goddamned wars in the first place,”

. I don’t know if this is true, but it does make sense and I would agree with it. The thing that pisses me off is they censored her opinion because she has an anti-war opinion. She didn’t flash a nipple like Janet Jackson or use profanity like they do on every network channel that still makes me blush. Canada played the whole thing with no problem. Was this that big a deal our sensitive American ears shouldn’t hear what she has to say?

What the hell? The good thing is this generated some controversy and of course made more news. Why are there people who want our troops to stay in a place we invaded and are not wanted?! This is like our Vietnam. The only thing we are missing is a draft, and that may be around the corner. The stock market was down ahead of some housing market news coming out tomorrow. Everyone is expecting a rate cut of either a .25 or .50 drop. Will this help the housing market. Probably not but it is a good show of good faith by the feds that they are trying to do something. The only reason I don’t think it will help ease the housing market crunch is because the problems are 2/28 subprime loans are resetting, and it doesn’t matter what the rates are if the house flippers can not refinance because of the drop in equity.

DOW 13,403.42 -39.10
NASDAQ 2,581.66 -20.52
S&P 500 1,476.65 -7.60

OMG! you are complaining about the price of fuel?? over here (UK) a gallon in the U.S is the approximate price of a litre here!
    1 gallon = 3.785 litres
here it is 90p per litre so that makes
3.41 GBP per gallon = 6.87USD per Gallon. that’s why we drive smaller cars over here

    Hi Andy,
Wasn’t really complaining about the price of gas. The price is all relative to where you live. Just skeptical that they are not truly moving based on supply and demand in our free and capitalistic economy. They seem to be acting in collusion and creating a monopoly of sorts. The point I was really making is that they are operating illegally if they are fixing the prices arbitrarily. The prices should adjust with the price of crude, since that is the raw product we generate gasoline from. Sorry to hear your price per gallon is higher.
