Woman tasered video Ohio multiple times

Posted on Sep 20, 2007 by CHESSNOID in Uncategorized | 8 Comments

I am not surprised by all this tasering the police have been doing lately. It seems to becoming a trend or an epidemic. This was caught on September 2 but we are just hearing about it now. It is graphic, but I don’t understand why this tool is being abused. Watch this and please tell me what you think is going on.This video is very shocking to watch.

It’s an abuse of power when put in the hands of people who do not know how to be responsible with it. But it also depends on what are the grounds on which the usage of the tasers are allowed? Still, repeated usage like this should not be condoned. The woman wasn’t even armed. The officer should have been removed from the force totally.

Sheesh! There’s been so much civilian violence in the US news as of late. (That seems to be the running thread of your last few posts, in addition to the idea that government/state-sanctioned violence is the next step to further errosion of democracy in America.)

The Jena 6 ordeal is another example of what happens when the powers that be, who enforce the rule of law, sanction injustice. Hopefully, enough people will speak out against this injustice to effect a serious, far-reaching change.

BTW, if you haven’t already signed the Jena 6 petition, you’re welcome to visit http://www.naacp.org/get-involved/activism/petitions/jena-6/index.php.

These absurd things should just not be happening in the modern era. I just shake my head & wring my hands when I hear about things like this. Shouldn’t we be more evolved as human beings by this point in time? If we can put a man on the moon, make the computer chip, sequence & decode DNA sequences, write great works of literature, & create beautiful & moving art, you’d think that we as the human race would be able to solve these types of societal problems.

Nonetheless, I’m still hopeful. It might take another 100 years, but maybe we as a society can figure out how to live peacefully with another, & put aside our differences for the greater good. Like the final few scenes of the movie, Independence Day, maybe we can all come together & work it out.

Man-created problems like global warming are another good opportunity to foster international cooperation amongst nations.

It’s either that, or we face extinction! ;-)

Thanks for the very interesting posts. Certainly makes you think about the state of democracy in the United States & in the rest of the world.

    Hi YC,
I agree that people entrusted with authority and power must use it wisely and not abuse it.

    Hi Cyberpenguin,
As usual you give great feedback. I agree with you wholeheartedly. I guess watching the current news in disbelief makes me want to post about my feelings towards the event. Up until a few days ago, I wasn’t aware of the Jen 6 situation. I am surprised the media didn’t give it more attention.
It does seem lately that our democracy is being compromised by our current government. I am hoping making people aware, and not taking democracy for granted, will be the first step in preserving it.
Thanks again for your great insight.

    This is insane.
A ‘officer of the law’ who looked to be 2.5 times the size of the woman, tazers her multiple times, the last of which causes her to stumble, fall, and knock herself unconscious, gets reassigned to another position and when the tape comes to light, not by the police, but by the news station, the only thing that happens to this a**hole is to be put on administrative leave with full pay – sounds like a paid vacation to me – and, I’ll bet money on this, if, just if he is ever admonished, it will be a slap on the wrist.
He should be charged with criminal assault and battery, aggravated assault and battery, dereliction of duty, excessive force, reckless endangerment, etc.
In addition to charging this creep and having him go to jail for a long time with no reduction in time spent, the cop and the city should be sued in civil court for millions.
What a debacle, what an outrage, what a travesty.

    Hi MorganLighter,
I share your views completely. This was definitely excessive and unnecessary. When I checked youtube, I found that there are a few more police tasering people videos. I guess this is more common than I realized. I only knew about this after the student tasering at the Kerry event.

I am glad we have the technology now to catch such abuse, so we can hopefully bring more justice to our society.

Thanks for your insight. I appreciate it.
