I hope you will like them. I think you will like Death Proof since you liked District 13. Those guys were actually amazing with their super agility. Also, Kill Bill 1 was pretty good too if you like karate action flicks.

I don't mind subtitled movies. Especially the French ones. I love the way they speak French.

Do you have any other recommendations?

great! 3 movies that I have't seen that are worth seeing. I'm always at a loss to what movie to rent(well, download anyway).
have you seen the french movie District 13 ? it's a wild ride, pretty funny in parts and quite unique. (subtitled)

Hi ALSS,
You got me there. Technically, any movie could be a chick flick under your definition. I will have to agree with your description. I like Kill Bill 1 but not 2 so much. I think these would be considered chick flicks too, since most women would cheer for Uma beating up all the men.
Plenty of popcorn to go around.
Thanks for your comment.
Cheers!!

Hey Chess, I consider a "chick flick" to be any movie that appeals to women, not necessarily a sappy emotionally manipulative film or a cheesy romance. I dislike those. In my humble opinion, this Tarantino film definitely falls in the "chick flick" category because it has an action packed, white knuckle, laugh out loud ending that will make all women stand up n' cheer and go *BOOYEAAA!* So, would you uhh mind passing me some of that popcorn? ;o)

Hi Alss,
Thanks for the comments. I can't recommend Death Proof as a chick flick movie because a whole lot of chicks will be mad at me because it really isn't a tear jerker or romance type. At least I didn't think so. When I think of chick flicks, I think of movies like the Notebook (I cried at that one) or any Jane Austen movie. Also, you are right that it was pretty violent and gorey. I forgot to mention that.
As for After the Wedding, it was nominated in 2006 but I did a quick search and it lost to a German movie titled The Lives of Others. I also saw that one and it was a good movie to watch that revolves around peoples lives just before the fall of the German wall. Back to After the Wedding, the music is beautiful like you said. In my opinion, this is a chick flick tear jerker. I guess it all comes down to what you think qualifies as a chick flick.

Do you have any other chick flick movies you could recommend watching?

P.S....Another plus for "After the Wedding" - they used some beautiful music for the soundtrack, including Sigur Ros (one of my faves), some with a bit of an Indian flavor, but all had a very soothing, ethereal quality which lends itself well to the landscapes, mood and storyline. :o)

Hey Chessnoid, I would classify Quentin's "Death Proof" a chick flick instead of "After the Wedding".

"Death Proof" surprised me in that I actually liked it. Coming from Tarantino, I was expecting a lot of camp n' cheese. He did not disappoint. It's got all those elements but it was also a LOT of FUN! (Not recommended for those that are sensitive to gore and violence.)

"After the Wedding" was a little slow to start but if you're into good stories with multi-dimensional, well fleshed out characters, this is one I would recommend. I thought it was a very moving family drama. If I'm not mistaken, I think it won the Oscar for best Foreign Film, didn't it?
