Firestorm update 10-22-2007, Dancing with the Stars, the Bachelor, + stumbleupon

Posted on Oct 22, 2007 by CHESSNOID in Uncategorized | 6 Comments

The fires haven’t died down yet. Looks like more fires are breaking out. In San Diego, over 500 homes have been lost. The Santa Ana wind conditions are still persisting. Seems like our states resources are stretched to the max.

For some reason, the fires are affecting my cable company. My dvr is down and not working. My electricity is also going up and down too. This is also throwing my internet down too. Of course, my problems are minor compared to those out their with homes affected by the fires. Since my dvr is down, I have to watch my shows live and of course sit through those darn commercials.

Tonight, I watched dancing with the stars with Marie Osmond fainting. Helio my favorite dancer struggled tonight with his performance. He looked tight and just off. Seems like most of the dancers did. Sabrina is still going strong and is really a great performer. I can’t guess who will be booted off tomorrow. If I had to guess, I would pick Mark Cuban just on fan base and performance. He really is trying. He is another one of the stars who seemed to have lost a lot of weight too.

The Bachelor was enjoyable tonight. The final four are in place for hometown dates to have the bachelor meet their families. I think it is starting to become more entertaining. It seems like Jenny is still the front runner to win with DeAnna a close second. Tonight, Hilary had a meltdown that was kind of sad to see. I have a hard time believing these girls think they are totally in love in just a month’s time. I can’t wait till next week’s episode.

I have been using the stumbleupon more lately to find amazing and beautiful pictures. Feel free to check out all the pictures I’ve given thumbs up and enjoy. If you haven’t been using this application, I highly recommend it. The more I use it, the faster I am able to find things that appeal to me.

    Hi keeyit,
It is like speedreading the internet of things that you like. You can click on my link in the post to see what I have thumbs up’d.
To use stumbleupon, you need to download the stumbleupon bar, then press the thumbs up or down button for the things that you like or dislike. I think if you go to the site directly it will explain it better.
    Thanks for visiting.
    Cheers!

The fires are so horrible! Hope the winds die down soon. It’d be nice if the federal government will step in with some aid. And they need to respond a lot faster than they did with the Katrina disaster. After all their spending, I hope there’s still some $$$$ left in the coffers!!!!

I hate watching live TV too for the same reasons. I also TiVo my shows too. Would love to vote for my favorites, but I can never seem to watch the show in time to vote.

Yes, there was a lot of drama for weird reasons on tonight’s show. Marie Osmond fainting shows how much effort she’s exerting, maybe a bit TOO much effort than she’s comfortable with doing! But I still applaud her efforts!

Also, agree with your assessment of last night’s performances. A lot of people seem to be stiff, & unable to move.

In Helio’s case, he looked like he was just thinking too much, & not feeling enough during his performance, which of course resulted in the judges’ assessment of him being “mechanical.” You can tell he’s practiced so much to perfect the choreography, but he was too analytical about the way in which he executed his dance moves. His arms & footwork were unfortunately off last night, & he seems to also have left his heart back in his dressing room. ;-) I think his biggest challenge was to “play it straight,” because he likes to kid & smile & can be such a goof-ball. It was obviously harder for him to dig deep & show his serious & passionate side, because his tendencies are to publicly exude frenetic happiness & excitement of a playful nature, not the more private emotions of fiery passion!

I also notice that many of the performers have trouble rotating their hips properly. This was especially true of Marie, Jane, Jennie, & of course Mark. Yes, even Jennie, who took lessons from the professional hip hop dancer/choreographer, was still a bit wooden, in my opinion. However, I will concede that, it was still an improvement for her.

Particularly in the Latin dances, this is where the stars are supposed to let go of any of their prissy, “whitebread” postures & tendencies, if they are prone to them! The qualities required for these dances are the exact opposite of the ballroom dances like the waltz, etc. It seems that many of the stars that excel in ballroom have trouble with Latin & vice versa. The only ones able to consistently break through these barriers have been Sabrina, Helio, Mel B, & now it seems, Cameron, too!

Speaking of which: Yea, for Cameron! He’s really put in the work, & last night’s performance shows show marked improvement & versatility that surprised the judges & wowed the audience.

Sabrina, Cameron, & Mel B all gave really excellent performances.

I was proud of Mel B for doing so well - She really showed everyone that she wasn’t worthy of the red light! Let’s hope the fans agree!

I also think Mark is about to go tomorrow. He has indeed lost a lot of weight. He’s certainly one incredibly charismatic & handsome man, even if he can’t dance to save his life! ;-)

Also Carrie Ann’s comment to Jane about what ballroom can do to a body was nice to hear! Even though Jane didn’t have any noticeable weight to lose, you can definitely tell it’s given her more muscle definition! She looks fabulous! I hope I look that good at her age! She doesn’t have an ounce of fat on her, but she’s still quite shapely. Her body is divine!

Jennie has also toned up considerably!

I also noticed that Sabrina has lost some weight. She definitely has a tendency towards a more baby-faced look (& not just because of her youth), so it’ll be interesting to see how see looks at the end of the competition. I noticed that she doesn’t seem to have much of a waist, but the dancing has definitely given it more definition. I will say, she certainly does have great legs! She’s a muscular, powerful dancer & a very hard worker, & is very exciting to watch!

Mel B has also definitely lost weight! She’s starting to get her old body back. A few more pounds to go & she’ll start looking as thin & fabulous as when she first joined the Spice Girls.

As I mentioned previously, Marie Osmond is also looking fabulous. I think she’ll lose even more weight by the end of the show.

Helio is tall, thin, & wiry, so it’s hard to see any change in terms of his physical appearance.

IMHO, Cameron was already perfect to begin with, so you can’t mess with physical perfection. ;-)

Well, enough of my analyzing! Can’t wait to see what happens tonight during the results show!!!!! Hope your DVR behaves itself!

    Hi Cyberpenguin,
I just posted another update on the California firestorms.

I guess tonight we get to watch another star eliminated. I think it will be a shock whoever it is.
It really is amazing to see all the stars’ transformations to their current physical bodies.
I think you are right about Helio not being to behave the way he normally does which made him look awkward. I think he will be back. I am still rooting for him but think Sabrina has it locked up to the end.
There is a chance Marie may have got a boost with her fainting and increased her fan base for support. Everyone likes an underdog. Cheers!
