Today, the winds have died down for the most part. The heat and humidity is still awful. I had the a/c in my car on the way home from work, but it still seemed unbearable. The temperature gauge said it was 94 degrees which is weird since I live only 5 minutes from the beach. Today it was really baking out there.
On TV, we have 24/7 news coverage of the fires in all 20 different locations. In San Diego alone they say over 1500 homes have been destroyed and they have mandatory evacuations of over 500,000 people with numbers to go up to 750,000 by tomorrow. It is still smoky in the area I live in and ashes seem to be floating everywhere.
I feel sorry for all the people experiencing this hardship. Technically, many people are becoming homeless overnight and being forced to stay in shelters. The good thing is they made it out with their life. I know no one wants to lose any of their material things but really those are nothing compared to just be able to live.
The State of California has already declared a state of emergency. We have already called on other states to come in and assist our state in our time of need. Hopefully the weather turns cooler and we can put an end to all this craziness.

HI CHESSNOID: BEEN KEEPING UP ON THE INTERNET ABOUT THE FIRES. GLAD TO HEAR THE
WINDS ARE DYING DOWN. THE PICTURES I HAVE SEEN ARE JUST AWFUL. BE SAFE TALK TO YOU SOON.
Hi David,
Thanks for the good wishes. The temperatures here are in the 90s and I am by the coast.
There are about 20 fires or so and massive evacuations. San Diego county is being hit the hardest but the have the stadium open for everyone.
Those pictures are awful but give a good picture of what it is.
Cheers!
This is sooo awful. Over the years growing up there were always fires, but certainly nothing ever like this. I lived in Gardena so we were not in harms way, but always knew someone who’d lost their home. This is so awful. I live in another state now, but I feel like there’s something I should be doing. San Diego is my favorite place to be in California. I used to drive down during the summers and stay at the Sheraton on Harbor Island, it was so peaceful.
Shelia’s last blog post..
Hi Shelia,
It really is the worse I have seen and I have lived here for almost 37 years all over California. I think all we can do is pray for the safety of everyone.
Cheers!
it sounds like the fires are getting under control, it must be freaky to see so many people displaced because of it.
there was a showing of Terminator on UK tv last night and flicking the channel over half way through saw Arnie talking as governor seconds after being a robot killer! weird…
Andy Bailey’s last blog post..easy ecommerce, AJAX and professional designs
Hi Andy,
looks like the weather is starting to become cooler which will help. The fires aren’t under control yet, but there is a chance of rain on the weekend. These fires are so large that it will last a few more days.
I agree that it is weird, but cool to see Arnold as the governator.
Cheers!
