Time Warner, Boston Legal, Grey’s Anatomy, Scrubs, Planet Terror, and stock market update 10-25-07

First of all, my DVR is down and out. No more fast forwarding through commercials and watching at my convenience. I set up a time for the cable technician to come out and fix or replace the DVR. He came a day early and left a note on my door saying I missed my appointment. I called the cable company up and advised them they came early and the appointment set up was for tomorrow. The representative tried to tell me otherwise with an attitude. I am usually calm in demeanor, but will use a forceful voice to put reps in check and then ask for their supervisor to get things done. I didn’t have the patience today to wait. The company’s incompetence was irritating. I hate the poor service I got from Time Warner, but I should of expected that after they took over Adelphia.

So far this season, some of my TV shows have been a disappointment. I have watched Boston Legal when they were spun off The Practice, but now will probably stop watching their show. The writing is getting corny and the zipping camera action is dizzying. Grey’s Anatomy is on my chopping block. I am surprised because I really enjoyed this show also from season one. Now the characters this season have developed into annoying personalities lacking common sense. Seriously. No, Seriously. And forget about the spin off show with Addison’s character. That show is worse. I am not sure if these shows are now trying to become like Scrubs. Scrubs humor is deliberate and actually funny. If Grey’s Anatomy wants to become like this show, first thing they need to do is hire Scrubs’ writers.

I did watch a funny but gory movie called Planet Terror directed and written by Robert Rodriguez and stars Rose McGowan, Josh Brolin, and Michael Biehn. This movie was released with Death Proof which I saw a few weeks ago and also enjoyed. I guess I will be watching more movies, now that I am writing off some TV shows off my viewing schedule.

Yesterday, teh stock market made a spectacular comeback. Today closed down today after some more bad housing news, but nothing dramatic. Let’s see what tomorrow brings.

DOW 13,671.92 -3.33
NASDAQ 2,750.86 -23.90
S&P 500 1,514.40 -1.48
