Congratulations to my friend Andy of FiddyP who woke up to an early google present of a PR5. He started the blog just 2 months ago and has been an all around very cool guy. That’s karma at work!
AntiBarbie has a cool post today about what color crayon are you. I couldn’t resist and took the test. My results are:
| You Are a Green Crayon |
![]() Your world is colored in harmonious, peaceful, natural colors. While some may associate green with money, you are one of the least materialistic people around. Comfort is important to you. You like to feel as relaxed as possible - and you try to make others feel at ease. You’re very happy with who you are, and it certainly shows!Your color wheel opposite is red. Every time you feel grounded, a red person does their best to shake you. |
Now back to the google pagerank thing. I have been reading about it with most of it being negative news. Since I was a 0 it really didn’t matter to me. To be quite frank, I really don’t get traffic from google. Maybe because there is no such word as CHESSNOID, so no one would ever do a search for it. Out of curiosity, I checked to see if I was assigned a pagerank. Sure enough, I now have a PR3. Pagerank is suppose to get you more traffic from google, but I am reluctant to see it happen. If i ever get around to monetizing this blog, I might have to change my name to DOLLARNERD and take advantage of my new found google PR.
To be honest with you, I have read a lot about this PR stuff in recent weeks and didn’t really concern myself with it. I wonder if PR rank is relative to technorati authority at all. I know they have something to do with links back to your site, but technorati is suppose to be blog related only. I believe most of you have more knowledge than I do about this Google PR stuff, so I want to know is what do you recommend I do now, in order to take advantage of this? How does this benefit me?

If you don’t intend to monetize this site, then nothing much, I guess. But if you do, then having a good PR does help to command higher advertising value. That said, Google does not want you to sell PR, so I am not sure what you can really do with it, except to be really discreet about it.

Oh, I’m a green crayon, too.
I think that PR has nothing to do with traffic. But if an advertiser looks for a blog, he looks for a high PR blog. And, also, the name of your blog has nothing to do with high traffic. It’s your content and SEO who counts.
PS. I can write this comment, only because my little son is fascinating by your little spider from your sidebar and he wonders where the spider disappears

i also dont know how google’s PR help a site or blog, dunno what my site’s PR is =)
btw, i only use technorati to know who links to my blog, but recently i’ve noticed that it isnt updated anymore, not sure if it’s only with my blog or technorati’s having a glitch

Google’s PR helps a site because if you are looking for advertisers, or advertisers are looking to pursue a business relationship with you, it’s something that they often look very closely at and will adjust their pricing accordingly.

I am a purple crayon!
about the PR thing, I know I’m supposed to say, “it doesn’t matter what Google thinks of me” , I still feel pretty good about a 5 being handed down to the main site and the CL page! I get a better buzz from comments though and judging by the amount you get here, you have a commentrank of 7!

Gidday! I’m a red crayon because I blush. I just checked my page ranking. It’s 4, after being on 0 for six months. I’ve heard the negative things about page ranking as well, but that doesn’t matter. It made me happy. That’s what counts. Congradulations on your page ranking.

The PR indicates how high your website will be listed in the Google search engine. The higher the PR the more Google will send searchers to your site.
I got a PR raise too and can’t wait to see the difference it will make in my advertising ops. I use PayPerPost and with a PR of NA I still made $300 last month. And that was so low only because I took roughly 2 weeks off from it.
If you decide that you want to try it out, you can sign up through me ;P
Good morning! Thanks everyone for your comments. I do appreciate it very much.
@YC– I personally don’t like the look of adverts on my site, but I think I will reconsider it in the future.
@Diana13– Thanks for your insight on PR. If your interested in the spider widget, the link is inside the box and send you to http://www.aBowman.com which is where I got the koi pond and penguins from.
@Pusa–If you do a google search on PR and just enter your website name, it will give you the PR#. I don’t know what’s up with technorati, but I recently downloaded a autofave program from Santa’s site through Blogcatalog and now it does it automatically for me.
@AntiBarbie– That is good to know. I think in the future, I might try doing the paid posts.
@Andy–What does purple mean? I am very happy for you in your great page rank of 5. Congrats again! I think you do a great job and of course you can see I use commentluv here. Thanks for everything.
@Peter–What does red mean? Congrats on your new page rank of 4. Well deserved, mate! I agree that if it makes you happy that is what counts. I do enjoy reading your blog. To me it reads like a good novel.
@Diana–Congrats on your PR raise. I get the feeling you will be raking in the $$ now.
Thanks for the offer and I will keep that in mind.
Cheers everyone! Thanks again for visiting and have an excellent weekend or what’s left of it.
I’m a 3, too. This is interesting, we’ll see how it pans out!
Joanne’s last blog post..
HI Joanne,
We can start the 3 club. It will be fun to see how it does pan out. Thanks for the comment.
Cheers!
Congrats on your PR 3! I, too, achieved page rank during the recent Google update–and just like you and Joanne, it was PR 3.
Cheers!
