5,000 Stumbleupon sites

Posted on Nov 10, 2007 by CHESSNOID in Uncategorized | 9 Comments

I have become more addicted to stumbleupon and do it daily now.  It has definitely become a way for me to surf the internet.  It has tivo like abilities that sends sites directly to me that I am more apt to like or appreciate.  I have probably seen more than 5,000 web pages in the last10 days.  I speed read, watch videos, and find great photographs to look at.

I know many bloggers want to get hits from stumbleupon and even I have had the benefit of traffic surges from it.  However, it can be much more than that if you get to understand how it works from the user perspective.  Once you figure that out, you may be able to get more meaningful visits from this type of traffic.

There are other ways of getting traffic I guess from sites like digg, delicious, reddit, sphinn, and other sites, but I think SU is the most fun way for users to find sites that they will actually enjoy.  Again, I am only speaking from my personal experience.  Surprisingly, it’s social network is better than I imagined. I get email from other SU members that want to chat, that give me reviews, and just are happy to share their surfing experience by way of a share button.  In a way, it is kind of an advanced instant messaging system.  Although in this case, I don’t think the novelty of it will be wearing off  like AOL im or ICQ.

How do you like Stumbleupon and how has your experience been with it?

SU has been my best and most consistent referral. And the best network I have so far – the users are the friendliest and helpful.

StumbleUpon has certainly bought new visitors to my site, and sometimes I find the most strangest things have been stumbled….

I discovered SU a few months ago and didn’t use it much until I found out that the more you stumble the better sites you get. I’ve also gotten a LOT of hits to all my websites from Stumble. Yep, I’m addicted now and use it every day.

    Hi Chessnoid,
I’m also a great fan. I think a lot of people go into it expecting huge traffic returns and I like the way it encourages reviewing others, rather than a focus on yourself. It DOES boost your traffic, but it boosts relationships and great new sites even more! :)

    Hi Simone,
I agree with you 100%. You give a good summary of how my experience has been with SU. Thanks for the comment.
    Cheers!

I think that StumbleUpon starts where my “old school” kicks in. I certainly see it’s purpose, but I’ve always been a very focused person who operates within specifics and facts. Though there’s nothing to lose, StumbleUpon is like gambling to me, LOL, though there’s nothing to lose.

Everytime I go to StumbleUpon it’s like walking into a mall of blogs, and I hate malls.

I’m smart enough not to walk away from something that can help me, but I can see right now that the acclimation period is going to be looooonnnnng.

    Hi Shelia,
I can understand where you are coming from. Personally, I avoid crowded malls. For me this is just efficient web surfing.
In the beginning of my stumble experience, I wasn’t getting cool or good stumbles. But after putting a few hundred thumbs up, more relevant sites that I liked started coming up for me.
    Thanks for the comment. Cheers!
