Windows vs linux.

Posted on Nov 17, 2007 by CHESSNOID in Uncategorized | 0 Comments

The last 2 computers I have blogged about asus eee and the walmart green everex pc are both low priced, but I think what attracts me to both of them is that they are windowless.  No windows o/s seems alien to me.  I have worked off of windows o/s since the windows 98 so the idea of a system without it and yet easy to use appeals to me.  The few comments I have received seem to praise linux and its usability.  I think I am ready to check out that operating system.  My next step is to research the linux ubanta o/s and find out all that I can.  Than I may download the gOS off the internet and try to install it on my old laptop, then play around with it.

The benefits I hope to achieve from this is to experience a new o/s platform and to become windows dependent.  I like the idea of faster boots and less junk on my laptop originally installed by microsoft.  I no longer use internet explorer because firefox is much better.  That of course was an easier switch, but I think I will have the same positive experience swtching to linux.   I really do not like windows vista and don’t really see any benefits to this upgraded windows platform.
