The Secret of Stumble Upon Success

Posted on Nov 24, 2007 by CHESSNOID in Uncategorized | 4 Comments

I discovered Stumble Upon from other bloggers singing the praises of traffic surges from this site. I never really understood how a voluntary social media could create that. I was like every other blogger out there trying to get traffic to my site. I signed up and I tried to send traffic my way when I first started, SU would actually send over 25-50 hits tops. So I still didn’t really get it. Then one day, I had one post that actually generated about 25,000 hits in a one week period. Of course, I liked it but at that time didn’t really didn’t know why it happened on that post.

I have read many different bloggers post explaining how it works, why it works, what they do to maximize the traffic sent to them. There really is no true method to stumble for traffic purposes. As I learned more of the SU benefits, traffic to my own site really didn’t matter to me anymore. I actually got past that and began appreciating SU for what it was.

I must say I probably stumble about 3-4 hours through out the daily. I find beautiful pictures, inspiring articles, and humorous videos. The internet is so infinitely vast that you can get lost in it and never find things that interest you. For me, I have become a professional stumbler and made my priority just to enjoy myself. I know the different authors’ sites love it when they get a stumble, so I try to be as generous as possible.

When I first started to stumble and check out the Stumble Gods, I thought how can they stumble so many things. Now that I have been consistently doing it for a month, I see that once the stumble machine is set my personal frequency, most things that come my way interest me in one way or the other. The secret of Stumble Upon success is that you truly enjoy it as a medium for personal enjoyment and not just for its traffic surges.

Feel free to check out my favorites and add me as your friend. Cheers!

    Great post chessnoid,

I have had a similar situation with stumbleupon… I was probably the poster child for just going to my five favorite sites every day. Stumbleupon shows you just how vast and interesting the internet truly is (even if half of it is LOL cats pictures)

    Hi Nathan,
Thanks for the comment. I even like the LOL cat and dog pictures too. I think many of them are both corny and funny, but that is what I like.
    Cheers!
