Showtime Dexter finale
I just watched the latest episode of Dexter. I hate the fact that there is only one more episode left of my favorite Showtime TV show. Yet, I can’t wait until the finale is here next Sunday. I don’t think the series will follow the book. Judging by the little preview of the finale, I think the last episode will be full of twists.
My guess is Lila finds out that Dexter is a serial killer. Then Dexter finds out that Lila is also a serial killer. She finds Dexter’s tools at the cabin and Lila actually kills and cuts up Sergeant Doakes into pieces. That is when Dexter walks in and now has to kill her because she is a serial killer. I think the way it ends is that Lila is found out that she is the Bay Harbor Butcher by the FBI, Doakes dies by her hand, and the case is closed for Dexter to move on to season 3 with a new storyline.
My wife’s guess is that Lila finds Doakes and set him free. Doakes reveals to her that Dexter is the Bay Harbor Butcher and Lila wants to save Dexter. So she decides to kill Doakes and Doakes winds up killing her is self defense. That is when the FBI walks in on him and catches him in the act. I think her guess is better than mine.
Yeah, we are probably both wrong but will definitely enjoy watching the finale. We are both hooked and hope there is a season 3. How do you think season two will end?

Dexter is excellent. We didn’t think they could make season two as good as season one but it’s turned out better. Will b sorry to see it end. Acting is brilliant. So is the script.

I had to skip this post after the first sentence of the second para as I haven only seen up till ep 8 lol! But this is sad news for me – Prison Break will only be back in Jan, Heroes is gone till the writers decide that some money is better than none, and now Dexter is ending.

Why is it that they cancel or end all of the shows on TV that are interesting and make a person think about the possibilities of life and death? I do not know if there is a season three in the works for Dexter or not but I, for one very much hope so.
Dexter pulls at the heartstrings of all people who view the show. Something about the character strikes a cord with everyone that I have discussed its ideas with. It is more than just a simple pushing of the bounds of right and wrong. It is a show with so much more meaning than the majority of the crud that one can find on the TV.
The writing within the walls of season two have indeed improved by leaps and bounds over season one. This is a hard thing for me to say, in that I enjoyed season one immensely. One can only hope that the wise producers of Dexter can overcome the problems that are currently being produced by the Writer’s Guild. Here is to hoping that the finale will not be the end of a piece of art. Work that can be placed higher than most of the classic literature that we praise.

It’s one of those shows you really don’t want to end. You spend the entire season on the edge of your seat and just as they finish the season, you’re left begging for more. Enjoy it while it lasts, few great series stay great forever… Except South Park…
Lila will try and save Dexter after Doaxe tells her that he is the Bay Harbor butcher. She blows up the cabin with Doaxe in it. FBI finds his remains. None of this is obvious, and probably wrong. I’m cheating…trying to piece it together by the preview. It is the best show I’ve seen, and to clever for me to guess. Unfortunately I’m guessing one more season only…The good die young. @Stone — I am with you. I would like this just to continue forever as long as they can keep the storyline entertaining and writing great.
@Ruby — You are definitely right about left for wanting more. Every episode is just a cliffhanger for the next. I am afraid the finale could be the last show.
@This is Our Art — I think that is a pretty good guess. That would leave Lila alive for season 3 and get rid of Dexter’s problem for good. Let’s hope at least one more season.

I agree. It’s bittersweet. Can’t wait to see how season 2 ends but at the same time sad to see it end as there will be no more Dexter until season 3 (from what I read about Showtime’s president confirming there will be a season 3).
My guess is that Lila finds Doakes in the cabin and on further probing, Doakes tells her that Dexter is the Bay Harbor Butcher and that she needs to help him escape to turn Dexter in.
Lila, in her warped mind thinks that saving Dexter will make him take her back, so she tries to stop Doakes, a struggle ensues, and Doakes ends up killing Lila in self-defense.
Meanwhile, the FBI has found Doakes’ rental car and are in the vicinity searching for him already. So they happen upon the cabin just in time to see Doakes killing Lila, and kills him “in the act”.
Case closed on Doakes. No need for a lengthy trial in season 3 – especially since the FBI is keen on solving it, having sent Lundy’s boss down there to get results.
Get’s rid of Lila and Doakes. Season 3 will have La Guerta and Lundy working together to find out who the *real* BHB since they’re both not convinced it’s Doakes after recovering some new inconsistent evidence.

That is a great guess and would fit perfectly to make Dexter’s problems go away for good. Also, this would allow writers to make a new storyline to go in any direction for a season 3. Let’s hope that Showtime really is already putting next season together.

Someone leaked it out for all of us to watch in advance
I did some quick research online and found this on Wikipedia:
The first season finished airing on December 17, 2006. On November 2, 2006, Showtime renewed the series for a second season which began shooting on May 21, 2007 and premiered on September 30, 2007. Showtime President Robert Greenblatt has confirmed a third season is planned.[1]”
Looks like we Dexter fans will have more to look forward to in 2008!!!

I only started watching Dexter 2 weeks ago when I watched the first season over a period of 5 days. I was instantly hooked! I immediately called my cable company and ordered showtime on demand so I could watch the beginning of season 2 and I didn’t stop until this morning when I was able to watch the most recent episode. This is nighttime tv at its very best, Dexter and his cast need to be acknowledged at the next emmys and golden globes!!!!
we can only hope they would do a 3rd season…..or just give the viewers what they want and go a FEW MORE seasons! that would be radical
I can’t stand Lila and would like to see her killed in the finale! But I do like Doakes. Is it possible that Dexter saves Doakes from Lila and he is compelled to keep Dexter’s secret for saving his life? Then they can blame all the murders on Lila.

Dexter is an excellent show. It’s my favorite one on all of tv. I even watch the reruns. I love the story line and all the characters. I however don’t like Lila and want to see her killed in there finale also. I hope this show will have a season 3 ,4,5,6,7,8,9 etc..
Is it possible that Lila (though at first repulsed by finding out who Dexter truly is) is still obsessed with having a relationship with him? Maybe she kills Doakes herself (saving Dexter the trouble) and tells Dexter that with all the info. she has, he either comes back to her or she exposes who he is to Rita? Whatever happens.. I believe that Doakes and Lila are out and do not end up surviving the explosion shown briefly in the upcoming season finale.

I have never loved a show like Dexter. Wow. Finally….a Showtime masterpiece. There is no way they end it this week..this year…this season…ect. They finally have keeper. SHOWTIME? You did it.
Ny take- Doakes was interviewed and let it slip that his character lives on “in a way”. This means one thing….he is Dexter’s new “dark passanger”. A ghost to remind Dexter that his every move is watched. A new brother…. A connection from the other side pulling him into a season 3 confession..????
As to Lila…she is toast. No one can stand her for another season…even with the nice tits and hot accent….which means 1 od 2 things,,, either she dies at Dexter’s hands, after killing Doakes,,, or ….she is killed by the Police… *her tits aren’t rhat nice* .. ( by Deb?) when she is found killing Doakes. Bur one thing ia fot sure…Dexter is far from over my friends, You all have another season to look forward to. Enjoy~I know I will

there will be a season 3 of dexter showtime is running a contest for a walk on role in the 3 rd season. i suspect it will begin airing sometime in september. ugh dont know if i can wait that long!

While I was trying to find the date for premier of season 3….I found this site, (still haven’t found the date yet.
So glad to know that there are fellow Dexter fans out there. Loved the ideas for what would be the scenario for season 2 finale. I couldn’t wait to see Lila go…what a viper. Apologies to snakes everywhere.
I am jonsing for season 3.
