Holiday sales and traveling

Posted on Dec 23, 2007 by CHESSNOID in Uncategorized | 6 Comments

Looks like we are going to have lots of great sales after the holidays.  That’s when you can actually buy stuff that you personally want, you know what I mean.  I have read a little more about the Everex Cloudbook with linux o/s coming out next month in Walmarts.  It looks like they will be $399 not $299 and 7 inches not 12 inches.  They look like they will be competing with the Asus EEE subnotebook.  For $399, you can get a a decent laptop with windows and many programs with a hard drive so I am not sure what the true value of these laptops are. I get the feeling the currrent prices of laptops will continue to fall towards the $300 mark.

I did play with one of those Asus EEE laptops and thought they were cute, but I can’t say I enjoyed the screen size.  I don’t like scrolling web pages and tiny keyboards.  I did like the fact they are completely portable.  I guess I will continue to put off this purchase until I actually get tired of my current laptop.

I mentioned earlier that I don’t do resolutions, but there are things I would like to get done in the new year.  I would like to go to San Diego, San Francisco, Portland, and Seattle with my wife.  It would be great if we could stay a weekend or a week at all those places.  I wished I owned a condo in every one of those cities so I wouldn’t have to worry about hotels and parking.  Now that would be awesome.  Eventually, I would like to move and live in Seattle.  I would also like to visit Vancouver, Cananda.  From what I see it is a beautiful place.  If we were able to go up there, I would like to have high tea at the Empress Hotel.  I hear it is really enjoyable.

Do you need a new laptop? If not, then it might be better to refrain from buying?

Will prices of condominiums fall a good bit to get some new property? But does the added cost of maintenance make this worthwhile? Btw, why Seattle?
Have you been to Singapore? hehehe

Hi! I just popped over to wish you and your family a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. As for myself I got my Christmas present early in the form of a camera. Next on my list, no not a computer, but a GPS Navman or Tom Tom. But I can’t work out which ones the best. Anyway enough of that. All the best – Peter.

    Hi YC,
no I don’t need a new laptop. I want a new laptop. But I can wait another 6 months just to see where technology takes us.

Yes, prices of most properties will go down in value everywhere in the US. Some people believe the area they live in is protected by a local good economy, but I think time will prove them wrong. I love Seattle because of the cold rainy weather. Everyone is laid back and liberal in their views.
I haven’t been to Singapore but based on what you have told me it is expensive. Also, I could actually drive up to Seattle in 2 days. Singapore would require me to fly or take a boat. ;)
