eBay, Craigslist, movies, and housing market

Posted on Dec 28, 2007 by CHESSNOID in Uncategorized | 2 Comments

I have been perusing Ebay, Craigslist, and the internet for deals. They are everywhere. If you are a buyer and have cash there are many deals to be made. I have taken advantage of some items on sale online and very pleased with the value available.

I just finished watching 2 horror movies. One was called Tripper and the other was called Captivity. The first one was by David Arquette and it was a dog of a movie. Totally bow wow. Another actor that reminds me of David Arquette is Luke Wilson who was really in a good suspenseful movie called Vacancy. The second one had Elisha Cuthbert and it was actually very suspenseful and gory. With horror and suspense movies I don’t expect great plots or storylines, but I do want to be entertained enough to be scared or on edge. As long as you don’t go in with high expectations with these type of movies they are actually very enjoyable.

The housing market is really bad and I think most of America has become numb to the news. The stock market didn’t react to it. I believe the next wave of the credit crunch will come next year even as the housing market continues its downward spiral, the credit card defaults will shoot up as well as the number of bankruptcies. If you are staying in the stock market, you definitely want to get recession proof stocks such as energy, utilities, and even precious metals. Of course I could be totally wrong, but I am just making an observation based on our previous history. We have actually gone through this part of the business cycle many times, just never this bad. Don’t worry because it eventually always turns back up on the business cycle.

Property market was heading the same way here in UK, but amazingly today after rate drop, national papers announce another 5% rise again in house prices! The threat remains though of a major fall in prices here and I guess this will happen in 2008 alongside a major credit crunch with major rises in reposession rates.

    Hi Peter,
Sounds like the same thing maybe happening there in your UK. I think the market will change when prices come back to affordable ones.
    Happy New Year!
