MMA, UFC, HDNET

I just watched the latest UFC show and actually enjoyed most of the fights.  I expected  Georges St. Pierre to dominate Matt Hughes like last time.  He owned him.  I think when GSP fights  Matt Serra he will avenge his loss.  As for the Chuck Liddell and Wanderlei Silva  fight, I was a bit disappointed because I was expecting a knock out since both are strikers.  It wasn’t a boring fight but I am surprised it went to a decision.  The fight I was most impressed with was Lyoto Machida submitting Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou. Machida remains undefeated in mma and I hope he gets to fight for a belt soon. He has an impressive resume of wins over top fighters in their prime so I think he will one day be the champ.

I am looking forward to the HDNET New Years’ fights featuring   Fedor Emelianenko vs Hong Man Choi.  There are many good fights on that card with some veteran fighters such as Gilbert MelendezYoshihiro Akiyama, Kazuo Misaki, Murilo Bustamante, and Roman Zentsov.  Those are the only ones I am familiar with.  I have the IFL grand prix recorded on my DVR but still haven’t watched it.  It was free so I know I am going to enjoy it.  I also saw some more mma shows on HDNET.  Most notably a rerun of the Art of War which had some recent fights with Pedro Rizzo.  He has been around awhile and always entertaining to watch even past his prime.

I agree new years shows are always awesome and fun to watch. I certainly enjoyed the HDNET M-1 show with Fedor vs Choi main card.
