Everex Cloudbook in stock at Walmart online

Posted on Mar 1, 2008 by CHESSNOID in Uncategorized | 1 Comments

I have decided to spend my tax refund early and treat myself to this gadget. I was contemplating on buying the asus eee ultraportable laptop, but decided to wait on this Walmart special. I have read about these 7 inch wonders for the past 6 months. I checked out an actual asus eee at the local microcenter and thought they were pretty good. Extremely small but pretty good. $399 for a laptop is cheap nowadays especially for a brand new gadget. The only thing I didn’t like was the lack of a true hard drive.

I waited for this everex cloudbook because it had a 30 Gig hard drive. It will be on a new operating software I am not familiar with but am keen on learning. From what I read it won’t be too hard. Some of the Linux applications I already use should be the same. Like surfing the internet using the firefox browser. So I can check use it for surfing and checking my email. Hopefully, I will be able to stumble on it, too. I have a skype account already so that should be similar.

I was checking the Walmart site for about 2 weeks every other day, and today it was up and said inventory available. They don’t actually have it in the stores, but I ordered it to be delivered to our local Walmart and it should be there in about 5 business days. The confirmation email said it will arrive between 3/12 to 3/18. I am looking forward to playing with this new gadget and taking it with me whenever I step out. Once I receive it I will definitely blog about it and try to be objective with my opinions.

I see that this is an old post. How do you like the netbooks? I have been running puppylinux O/S for about 2 weeks now and love it. It’s a good system and fast. It does most everything that windows does. I have customized it with “eye candy”. Try this for O/S for small netbooks, it is only about 95MB big, so it should do fine.
