MMA seems to becoming more popular as more of the showcases become aired on regular TV without the PPV fees. HDNET has become more aggressive in the number of MMA shows it has been putting on. Here is a list of their current shows:
The partnership between HDNet and DREAM had been speculated for quite some time. As Andrew Simon told MMAWeekly earlier this month, “I think (DREAM) would be a fine addition to the great partners we currently have on HDNet. We are already partnered with Strikeforce, IFL, Sportfight, Maximum Fighting Championship, Ring of Combat, XFL and M1-Global.”
Later this month CBS is airing the first network live MMA show in the US for free. This is sure to get the most possible fans as possible. NBC has been airing re-runs of Strikeforce showcasing Cung Le. That actual fight for the CBS show on May 31 looks to be very exciting with popular and entertaining fighters who prefer to strike vs wrestle or submit their opponents.
Main Event:
– Kevin “Kimbo Slice” Ferguson vs. James ThompsonMiddleweight Title Bout:
– Robbie Lawler (champion) vs. Scott Smith- Gina Carano vs. Kaitlin Young
- Phil Baroni vs. Joey Villasenor
- Brett Rogers vs. Jon Murphy
There is also a fun boxing match set for this weekend showing Oscar De La Hoya vs Forbes. It is free on HBO so I will probably watch it.
