I must say in the state of economy that we are in, why do we keep spending money that the government doesn’t have to spend. If any person was relatively in much debt as our country is, lenders would not keep advancing money to the debtor. They would cancel the credit card. In this case bush is asking for more money for the war effort.
President Bush sent lawmakers a $70 billion request Friday to fund U.S. operations in Iraq and Afghanistan into next spring, which would give the next president breathing room to make his or her own war policy…
Congressional analysts say Bush’s request would bring the total spending since Sept. 11, 2001, to fight terrorism and conduct the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan to $875 billion.
…Anti-war Democrats are frustrated at their inability to force the president to scale back war operations and hate to vote to keep the Iraq war going. At the same time, Bush has promised to veto the war funding bill if Democrats add money for domestic programs and present him with a bill over his request.

I think Congress needs to call the bluff. The American people are tired of the wasteful and pointless spending. During the last senate election, people voted Republican senators out and replaced them with Democratic senators to finish Bush’s silly project to search for weapons of mass destruction that never existed. We need leaders in the House and Senate to stop passing these war funding bills. It is that simple. We don’t have the money to pay it back, so cut the 800 billion pound gorilla credit card in half. Enough of the Bush-it policies and his uncontrolled spending that is breaking our economy and sacrificing our soldiers lives for no reason. Call the bluff, and you will see he holds nothing in his hand.
