No ticket and gratitude

Yesterday, on my way home I made an illegal left turn. It was one of those weird signs that says you can’t make a turn between certain times. In this case, it was no left turn from 3-7 pm. I was oblivious to the time of day, and sure enough hiding in the bushes and motorcycle cop nabbed me. He pulled me over as soon as the turn was executed. I was a bit surprise. After he told me my offense, I offered him no defense. I just told him the truth, that I didn’t realize what time it was and sorry for messing up. He walked around my car after he checked my drivers license, insurance, and registration and let me off with a warning.

I am very grateful that he did that. Every once in awhile I meet up with nice people who are willing to give me a break. That ticket probably would have cost me $300 or more and 1 Saturday going to traffic school. Thank you again, officer, for the warning. It is appreciated.

It has been a few years since I went to traffic school and it is not something I would look forward going to. I wonder why the officer let me off. I only thought they let pretty ladies get off easy.

Seems like a dumb law to me. We have no signs with certain times, that’s just plain dangerous. Anyone can make the mistake you did.

We have signs like that and some of them really make sense and you can tell when someone is purposely ignoring it. Others, it would be easy to miss and the sign is really useless anyway.
I once got stopped for not having the current sticker on my plate. I told the officer I had it in the car and he put it on for me. No ticket.
