DNC and Superdelegates chose Obama, and now I am an INDEPENDENT

Posted on Jun 19, 2008 by CHESSNOID in Politics | 1 Comments

Now that the democratic primary process is over, I have to say I became disappointed with the Party and have decided to become Independent. It took me awhile to come to this decision. Originally, I would have supported Obama or Clinton because I was tired of all the Bush failed policies and wanted to see a better tomorrow in America. After what I observed, I don’t really think the Democrat Party is any better than the Republican Party. They both suck!

Many DNC high ranking officials called for Clinton to quit because their argument was she was hurting the party. What a load of crap! That is why we have the all those primaries. The real reason is they hate the Clintons plain and simple and just haven’t forgotten about the Lewinski incident. They ignored the 18 million people who did vote for her. Now there are organizations like People United Means Action (PUMA), www.JustSayNoDeal.com, a coalition of Democrats bound by a singular desire to defeat Obama in the general election. A collective of defiant former Clinton supporters calling themselves names like PUMA (Party Unity My Ass) PAC, NoWeWont.org, DONE (Democrats Over Nominating Elitists) and ObamaWTF.com. I agree with this person in this article here Gay man seeks to undermine Obama that Barack Obama is an anti-democratically chosen candidate. If you watched the news coverage and the way the media covered it, then you know how obvious this was manipulated. Whenever Clinton would win big in the primaries by 20-30%, 10 or 20 super delegates would come out and endorse Obama after he lost. Each time was a concerted effort to minimize her wins. Whenever he won, he would also get 10 or 20 superdelegates endorsing him. It really doesn’t make sense why the super delegates preempted Clinton’s effort of making her argument about her being more electable and having the majority of the popular vote. It didn’t make sense why they just didn’t all come out earlier and save time and money, if they were against having all the primaries count.

I know many maniacal Obama supporters will make stupid arguments about Florida and Michigan not counting, but bottom line if you count the votes straight up, she had more. Plain and simple and irrefutable. Not really much more either, it was really a 50/50 tie with less than a 1% difference. I get the feeling either Obama or Republican posing Democrats gamed the caucus events in those states and that is why the numbers come out the way they do. I highly doubt it is the way the media plays it up that his campaign did a better job campaigning. I would say that is crap because they had many issues that were dealt completely wrong. The main ones were his bad real estate dealing, reverend dilemmas, copied speeches, and terrorist associations and many more small ones if you do some internet search.

The main reason I have to re-think my vote like so many other democrats and independents is because Obama and his campaign along with the Un-Democratic National Committee did not conduct themselves in a democratic way. I was once impressed with Obama a few years back when I first heard him at the convention. Initially, he sounded energized and original.

Then I watched him during the debates and saw holes in his character and his delivery of where he stood on the issues. He wasn’t the polished speech orator I had been impressed with. He seemed like an annoying salesperson at times trying to push a sale of some product or service you didn’t want nor believed in. Then I saw on a news show of another politician friend of his giving the same inspired speech he gave. He admitted to having the same speech writer. Obama had become un-inspiring as he preached to his choir that words are important. The problem is it wasn’t his words. As the primaries wore on, you could see the tiredness of Obama and you could observe that all this crap about change was just that: CRAP. I know Obama-maniacs, Obama-bots, and Obama-zombies would get mad hearing this, but it is my opinion based on my critical thinking and observations of actual events.

I am an Asian-American and have experienced racism throughout my 41 years of life from Whites, Blacks, Latinos and even other Asian cultures. I know what it is like to be hated for the color of my skin or looking different. Even though I live in California, racism is in every city I have lived in. Barack carries himself well in front of the camera. But his associations with his Church and his wife’s speeches show me the anger they carry in their hearts. He may be able to hide it, but I see it by his associations and his active push to promote the Black movement. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that. I just don’t know if I want to vote for an American President to be promoting a certain race, color, or religion. I would prefer the President just to promote being a good American citizen. I even believe Bush is a racist, but he doesn’t seem to promote a Pro-White movement.

Obama today announced a Kerry-like FLIP FLOP decision about public financing. This decision was based solely on the financial numbers and nothing else. This is extremely disturbing because he is still campaigning and he has already broken a promise. A MAJOR promise. The man who claimed words are important just went back on his word. He talks about change and new visions, but all I see is decision making by dollars and the same old thing. What happened to the INTEGRITY?? What happened to keeping your word. This reminds me of his speech about his reverend where he says he can’t disown him and after growing pressure a few months later, he quits his church of 20 years. What the heck? Do you see the symbolism there? If he truly didn’t hear any of those inflammatory remarks the reverend made before and they are not his beliefs or his words, why would you quit the church. The reverend is not the church and vice versa. The church represents where you can express and share your spiritual beliefs. It is just because you want more votes (as all politicians do) or just wanted to future drama that comes with belonging to a group and standing in what you believe in; which makes me DOUBT Obama isn’t really about a new vision or change. His actions just don’t match his words.

Will Obama really pull the troops out of Iraq? He said he was against the war, but voted for the war funding or just didn’t vote at all. That is called not taking a stand. That is not backing up your words with action. Is his rhetoric real, or is it really just rhetoric? Will he flip flop with campaign promises if he is elected? We don’t know now, but we do know he is capable of doing so by him demonstrating it. There is nothing wrong with changing your mind, but there is something not right about breaking your campaign promises. The Republican candidate RON PAUL was against the war and he voted against all the war funding bills consistently. He took a stand. His words matched his actions! It really isn’t that hard to do if you believe in your words like Ron Paul did.

Right now gasoline is almost $5.00 a gallon in California. Awhile back there was talk of a temporary gas tax holiday that Clinton and McCain were for, and Obama was against.

Republican John McCain was the first out of the gate with a gas-tax holiday proposal to ease the pressure at the pump — a plan to eliminate the 18.4-cents-a-gallon federal tax on gasoline between Memorial Day and Labor Day.

Clinton backs the idea, but Obama has come out of against a temporary gas-tax reprieve.

Obama had backed a similar temporary gas-tax freeze as an Illinois state senator in 2000. So Republicans are tagging Obama as a “flip-flopper,” calling his current position “calculating and contradictory.”

All the so called economists said it would not work or would be bad. Funny those same pundits never believed in the housing bubble until the housing bust hammered our economy into submission. If any of them stopped all the theory crap talk and did an actual study, then they would have known it would work. Yes, there was an actual study in Obama’s home state where they did this in 2000 and it worked!

But Obama is wrong. He did not learn this lesson. In fact, the only scientific study done on the pass-through of the tax holiday savings to Illinois consumers (and those in Indiana, as well, whose citizens enjoyed a similar holiday) found that it actually worked to a large extent.

The study is titled “$2.00 Gas! Studying the Effects of a Gas Tax Moratorium,” by Joseph J. Doyle Jr. and Krislert Samphantharak. Download the PDF here. The authors concluded that “the suspension of the 5% sales tax led to decreases in retail prices of 3% compared to neighboring states. And when the tax was reinstated, retail prices rose by roughly 4%.”

This suggests that the tax holiday delivered at least 60 percent of the tax savings to motorists.

I know politicians lie and they lie on a consistent basis. They spin stories to match their needs. However, if you run your campaign as being a vision of change and no more old politics, then you are going to have to deliver. So far in my opinion he has missed the mark and I will have to reserve my vote for the best candidate. Actions do speak louder than words, and I am both listening and watching both. Could Obama be the democratic equivalent of George Bush of the last 2 terms? I am starting to believe they have more similarities than differences. Even though I openly criticize Bush and McCain, Obama has not really demonstrated or explained economic strategies that will work. His proposed policies seem to fail just like McCains’ proposed policies do.

As far as the Democratic National Committee and the SuperDelegates, I have listened to their words and watched their actions. Truly great examples of oxymorons: a DNC that is not Democratic and Superdelegates that are not super. They are both disappointing and disgusting. I guess it is just politics as usual. They have successfully converted me out of the Democrat Party and now I am an INDEPENDENT! ;)

You couldn’t have put it more eloquently than you did. Many democrats say if you’re a true democrat, you will vote for Obama. I’m sorry, but I don’t vote for someone just because they’re a democrat. I vote for someone because they’re qualified and experienced — and they have good judgment. I haven’t seen any of this from Mr. Obama. The more he talks, the less likely I would vote for him. He is a fraud!

That is the problem with this country. People vote party, not for qualified candidates and that’s why we’re stuck with a two-party system. We need to stand up to both parties as voters and let them know what we want. If we had the guts to do that, we wouldn’t have the DNC and the media picking our president. Enough said!
