Today was a wonderful Sunday as usual. The weather has not let up. It was in the mid 90 degrees still. I went to visit my Mom and we ate at Lucilles where I met up with 2 of my 3 sisters and their husbands. It was almost like a mini reunion. I think it has been almost a year since I have seen my sisters and their husbands. I ordered healthy this time considering all their wonderful yummy but high calorie foods. I got the Salmon with vegetables and rice. I didn’t even know they had fish meals there. I was only aware of their BBQ everything else. Lol.
I took my mother to Big Lots afterwards which is one of her favorite stores to get good deals. I must admit I like to see what new things they have at close out prices. In the beach city she now lives in, this particular store seems better than the one she use to frequent in the inland empire. The price of gas is still crazy and seems to be averaging close to $4.70 a gallon everywhere in California for the low grade stuff. I think it is a matter of time before we break the $5.00 mark. Supposedly, OPEC will help us out because they don’t like overcharging us and don’t like making as much money as possible. Okie Dokie.
That email I got from the NY times turned out to be real. After the reporter interviewed me, I guess there wasn’t enough drama in my personal situation so he didn’t use me as an example for my American Express situation. He just published his article: Banks Trimming Limits for Many on Credit Cards and it was just OK. Originally, he contacted me about this post. I do like the fact he calls attention to the situation but it seemed to lack something because the overall article comes across bland and missing some flavor.
Tomorrow night, I am pretty anxious to see the next episode of the Bachelorette. I am guessing tomorrow will have a dramatic send home based on the commercial trailer. She said she thought she was falling in love with the one she just sent home. If that is the case, then I would think it is Graham that is possibly going home. Definitely going to be a little bit more difficult to pick the winner of this series.
I did watch another movie from my Netflix queue today called August Rush. The movie had some actors I recognized: Keri Russell, Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Terrence Howard, and Robin Williams. I didn’t actually know anything about the movie before it started so I had no expectations. It’s a good thing because I might not have liked it if I did. It wasn’t a bad movie and actually has a happy Hollywood ending. For me it just doesn’t completely come together. I did like the music in it as well as some of the singing by the young kids in it.
I also watched another movie the other day called We are Marshall on HBO I think that stars Matthew McConaughey (of naked bongo playing fame) and Matthew Fox (of fame). It could have been Showtime or the Movie Channel, but not really too sure. This movie was actually based on a tragic event where the whole school football team and coaches were killed in a plane crash in 1970 and how the university and community rebuilds itself. Truly just a sad movie because it is based on a true event.
This week will probably be another crazy week for Wall Street. The futures are all pointing up for the open. I expected a bounce because investors are looking for bargains. After the bounce, I expect a reversal down which will continue the technical trends of the moving average. I think personally until I see something solid that will turn our economy around I would stay out of the market and stay in cash. There is a second wave of nasty mortgage defaults on the horizon that Dr Housing Bubble blogged about recently. He seems to be right on the money. Add on top of the record foreclosures, record gas prices, record food prices, big businesses going under (like the airlines and investment houses), this economy needs a boost of confidence from somewhere and it isn’t going to come from OPEC meetings, politicians pointing fingers at each other, and unfortunately not from our fearful and idiotic president. I know that is harsh but it is true. The silver lining is Bush can’t run for a third term.
