I have been playing a ton more of online chess at chess.com. I have played 832 quick games, 333 blitz games, and 11 long games. That’s a lot of chess.
Incredibly enough, I have actually had 3 referrals sign up by clicking on this widget I mentioned last week. The reason I know this is I get little referral trophies at the site. They aren’t worth anything but it is nice to know I help someone get back into the game.
I wanted to play more online games by email so I signed up for my first tournament. It is a nice slow pace where you make a minimum 1 move every 7 days. Of course, we play faster than that and make multiple moves a day. I will let you know how I do or you can click to my games and check it out youreself.
I do have tons of fun playing chess for free online, and wanted to give back so I became a volunteer chess greeter. I signed up for 10 games where I play unrated first games with people who just signed up. So far the site has sent me 8 games in the first 10 minutes. That really means they sign up a ton of people or there are very few greeters.
On one of my chess blog posts, I received a comment from a TV producer interested in doing a show on chess players. Of course, that raised red flags and at the same time it got me curious. I did reply back and she thought I would be an excellent candidate for the show. Then they asked me how old I was and if anyone else played in my family. That is where I disqualified myself when I told them I was 41 and my cousin who also loves to play is older. She said she was actually looking for 7-17 year olds who were good at chess. Doh! I think it is my snoopy avatar that gave them that impression.
Anyways, blogging has been great for me. I have met a ton of awesome people. Some people I never would have met from other parts of the US and the world. Thanks for stopping by. Cheers!
