I was a former registered Democrat and voted for Bill Clinton, Al Gore, and John Kerry in the last elections. However, I did for Arnold Schwarzenegger in the California Governor race. I really do try to vote who I think would best serve the American people. I think with Al Gore and John Kerry going against Bush, the choice was obvious. More than 50% of the voters disagreed with me, and elected Bush both times. Even with the ugly state our country is now in, many people would probably vote for him a 3rd term if possible. I say that only because I didn’t think he would be elected the last 2 elections.
Anyways, I originally was going to vote Democrat again no matter who the nominee was when the primaries started last year. I didn’t think my feelings would ever change. During the primaries, I was disgusted with the way the DNC and the way Dean, Pelosi, Reid, and Brazile handled the situation. They seemed to be in collusion to put Obama in the seat no matter what, even if Clinton had the popular vote. I remember many Democrats asking her to give up and many of them making many sexists comments. This is what made me lose respect for the party and switch to register Independent.
Most of my personal views align with the Democrat party and most of my economic views line up with the Republican party. I was dismayed when both Senators Obama and McCain passed the FRAUD bailout bill. The Bush rhetoric saying bad stuff will happen was reminiscent of the invasion in Iraq. Anyways, now that the economy is the front issue, people just don’t want a Republican in office because Bush basically sucked. The problem is both Obama and McCain suck too. Listen to what they say, and they both have no clue about the economy. One talks about change and one talks about being a maverick. Exactly what have they done in the senate that opposes the Bush view. They supported all the things I was against like the BS bailout, the wire tapping, the Patriot Act, the funding of the war. They repeat the same stuff Bush was saying in both his presidential bids such as “lower taxes, help middle America, create more jobs, stop giving rich America a free ride”. This LAST vote for the fraud bail out demonstrates they are NOT for middle America.
Bad things are already happening and being scared by rhetoric such as financial meltdown doesn’t scare me since everyone in California has been living in that reality for the past year. Why are both Obama and McCain afraid to do the right thing. Spend money that will help the American people and not bailout the wealthy. There is no difference when it comes to knowing how to fix the economy between Obama and McCain. Why does the question become which is the lesser evil in choosing our next president? :sigh:
