I haven’t been paying attention lately to boxing so wasn’t aware there are some good fights coming up. An upcoming fight between Kelly Pavlik vs. Bernard Hopkins: Unstoppable. Live Saturday, October 18 on PPV. I really like both these fighters and think Pavlik may be able to knock out Hopkins. This is a hard one to call but Pavlik actually took out Jermaine Taylor, so we will see.
Then I think Roy Jones Jr will fighting Joe Calzaghe on Nov 15. That will be a great fight. I think Calzaghe is favored to win, but I am rooting for my sentimental favorite on this one. I hope RJJ can outbox Calzaghe and avoid being knocked out again. I don’t think he ever really recovered from those 2 devastating knockouts a few fights back.
Of course, the big fight which may in fact be the biggest PPV in boxing history will be between Oscar DeLaHoya and Manny Pacquiao on Dec 6. That fight will be fun to watch. I think DLH will win, but he is getting old. If Pacquiao can outbox or knock out DLH, then he will go down as the best pound for pound fighter. Boxing seems to be getting exciting again.
