Stock market roller coaster recap

Posted on Oct 27, 2008 by CHESSNOID in Recession, stock market | 0 Comments

I know everyday seems to be a repeat of the the day before.  Last night the global markets really took a thrashing.  The stock futures were down 2-4% before the market opened.  It opened down then bounced up to 2 1/2% and it looked to close in positive territory up until that last hour.  Not sure why it happened.

The closing numbers were:

8,175.77 -203.18 (-2.42%)
848.92 -27.85 (-3.18%)
1,505.90 -46.13 (-2.97%)

Other than this being the last week of the month, I am not sure why the up and down today. That last hour really took out all the averages.

We are closing in on the presidential race, but I think the market has already pricing in a Democrat win.  You figure Republican White House and bad economy equals new Democrat White house.  Although, I think the polls are misleading and that this race is probably closer.

I am not sure if we will see a bounce in the market after the election. The economy will be the same and neither candidate actually has a real plan to get it jump started other than lower taxes and create more jobs.  Both actions I doubt either will do since it is standard political rhetoric.  Remember, both these senators voted for the fraud bailout bill.
