I actually stayed up past midnight to watch the women’s Australian finals. I have been following Serena through out the series, and have watched Dinara in her last 2 games. I am happy Serena won since I was rooting for her to get her number one status back.

As far as the level of play, it was a bit disappointing. I don’t think we saw the best matches possible. Dinara seemed to get stage fright or something. I think in the second set before she lost, you could see tears in her eyes because she was unhappy with her performance. Even though she lost, I hope she realizes she accomplished a lot by getting to the finals and defeating all those other great players.

As for Venus, I am glad she and Serena were able to win the doubles. The only good thing about Venus losing early I guess is she didn’t have to play against Serena.

Anyways, on to the men’s finals. It will be hard to watch because I do like both Federer and Nadal. I am glad they both made it to the finals and I hope it goes 5 sets.
