We don’t hear about it anymore but it is probably the most important campaign promise that President Obama and his administration made. He said the wars were wrong and did not support them. He originally promised is he were elected that he would get ALL troops home in his FIRST 16 months of being President. Not that they would be reassigned to another country to fight another Bush war on terror, but that he would bring the troops home (to America). Regardless, it is September now and it will be impossible for President Obama to keep his promise of bringing the troops home in the time frame. What’s even more important is exactly how many troops has he brought home? Try to google it and find out (I believe the answer is ZERO so far).
As we all struggle to stay above water in this recession, sometimes it is hard to remember that this was another reason why we still are in a severe recession. We financed 2 wars and are still paying for it as you read this blog. We are paying for it in the biggest deficits ever, as well as, one of the worst economies we will see in our lifetimes. The excuses that he inherited the problems from his predecessor at this point are moot.
Personally, I did not like Bush’s performance as President. Obviously, we have a big dumb American population to get him re-elected a second time and paid for it before he left office. Quite frankly, Obama’s performance as President is worse than that of Bush. It may be hard to believe to his most loyal supporters, but if you simply base it on his job performance you can’t even make a respectable argument that he is doing a good job. There are no more excuses that such as the amount of time he has only been in office or that he inherited the problems from his predecessor that justify his lack of results.
The media thinks he is still doing a great job. But the media thought Bush was doing a good job and was a great leader too.
It is ironic that with 2 wars still ongoing, the worst recession we will live in our lifetimes (which is getting worse and not better), the highest unemployment figures (near 10%) and a continuing increase in the number of True foreclosures (banks are trying to cook the books by stalling the process), the Obama administration is focused on spending a trillion dollars more to fix the healthcare system with a plan that no one in Congress can agree on or prove conclusively that it will resolve the problems.
How many troops have come home?
How much money have the American taxpayers saved because he would get rid of wasteful government spending (hello, bailouts anyone)?
He claimed to know how to fix the economy when debating with McCain and yet the economy has become worse under his authority.
He promised to be transparent to the American people and yet we have too many secrets kept from the American people (i.e. what bailed out companies received taxpayer money).
