Seems like Christmas is around the corner and our President will be in office for a full year come January. Time sure flies doesn’t it?
I was very happy to be rid of our previous President. I thought he did a poor job both terms, but for whatever reason many people supported Bush’s decisions and actions and thought he was a great President.
We see the same thing with President Obama where many of his supporters give him blind loyalty and think he is doing a great job. I thought I was in the minority and watching him blitz the media every week made me wonder if more people are losing confidence in his performance.
This is what the Rasmussen polls show:

I was surprised to see other people see feeling the same way. Even though I personally have been against the bailouts, stimulus packages, insane deficit spending and now the health care bill that doesn’t fix the system, I am surprised that the majority of Americans would actually start grading his performance.

Race recently became an issue by our ex President Jimmy Carter. Unfortunately, I think he has lost it in his old age. I am glad that President Obama didn’t try to use the race card for his poor handling of the economy and respect him for that. I do hope that he actually gets a better plan to put into place. So far all I have observed is wasteful spending and a giant deficit growing to crazy proportions relative to our GDP.

From an outsiders point of view, I believe he is doing his best under difficult circumstances. With the downturn in the world global economy many countries are struggling to keep afloat industries that employ millions. If your friend was down on his luck, wouldn’t you give him a buck. Of course you would. Isn’t President Obama just trying to do the same for the ones that keep America afloat?
Hi Peter,
Great to see you again and thanks for stopping by. Your comment is always appreciated.
I am definitely more critical of our leader because he has been given access to literally trillions of dollars in less than a years time. The majority of the American people have not benefitted from that spending. The recent bailouts mostly benefitted his “Wall Street” friends (most of whom are well to do).
I would definitely give a friend down on his luck a buck or two, but I would use my personal money and not that of the pooled taxpayers money. In that sense, he has done that with the recent Wall Street bailout.
With healthcare it seems to be similar. The intent of helping everyone is good, but the actions of the actual plan seem to be benefitting the insurance and drug companies more than the actual people. We know what the problems are with our healthcare and the solution being proposed doesn’t deal with those issues.
The real reason healthcare is becoming expensive here is not because of doctors or the actual medicine, it is because of the middlemen who have to maximize their profit. Those middlemen are the insurance industry, the drug industry, and the ambulance chasing attorneys. You can see their influence in this “bill” by watching their donations and their lobbyists in action.
Check out Michael Moore’s Sicko movie if you get a chance. This gives a ton of insight in the American health care system.
Cheers!
