If you count the number of strikes and kicks then yeah machida may have won but if you watch for who does the most damage and lands EFFECTIVE strikes. According to the new jersey state atheletic control board which has the template for most MMA sanctioning boards in the united states Effective striking is judged by determining the total number of legal HEAVY strikes landed by a contestant. lyoto may have landed more punches and kicks that shogun but were they effective under the rules governing this sport?

Thanks for the comment. I agree with you. They can persuade fans it is a one sided fight, but I saw the same thing you did and much clearer the second time around without their commentary.

I totally agree with you! I watched the fight on TV live and i was so annoyed at the announcing– If there was anything ever fixed about this fight, it was Rogan and Goldberg’s commentary. It wasn’t even close, I thought Machida actually dominated with more accurate knees and punches.
