I think President Obama and his administration have good intentions on fixing the American health care system. I do believe Congress is trying to put something that will meet his objectives. The problem is they are not challenging the issues that make our health care system weak. I think we have great doctors and medical practitioners. That is not where the problem is rooted.
The origin of our problem in our health care system lies within the health insurance and drug companies. If you watch the movie Sicko or have any family, friends, and relatives who need expensive medical care and have insurance, then you know that is where the insurance companies deny you coverage for whatever reason (so they can remain profitable). At best you might be able to get them to cover a partial of the payment. Just look at the insurance company’s earnings coming out right now in the worst recession since the Great Depression. All of them are making PROFITS.
Drug companies simply have a monopoly on drugs that allow them to mark them up literally 10,000%. Do you ever notice that many commercials on TV are simply commercials for drugs with a million side effects mentioned so this disclosure stops you from suing them. Regardless, they are just like the health insurance companies and are all reporting PROFITS in this economy.
Both types of companies prey on the American people’s health and look to profit on people’s sickness or illnesses. You can’t fix the health care system until you deal with these issues.
Look at this report below from Investor’s Business Daily:
Major findings included:
• Two-thirds, or 65%, of doctors say they oppose the proposed government expansion plan. This contradicts the administration’s claims that doctors are part of an “unprecedented coalition” supporting a medical overhaul.
It also differs with findings of a poll released Monday by National Public Radio that suggests a “majority of physicians want public and private insurance options,” and clashes with media reports such as Tuesday’s front-page story in the Los Angeles Times with the headline “Doctors Go For Obama’s Reform.”
Nowhere in the Times story does it say doctors as a whole back the overhaul. It says only that the AMA — the “association representing the nation’s physicians” and what “many still regard as the country’s premier lobbying force” — is “lobbying and advertising to win public support for President Obama’s sweeping plan.”
The AMA, in fact, represents approximately 18% of physicians and has been hit with a number of defections by members opposed to the AMA’s support of Democrats’ proposed health care overhaul.
• Four of nine doctors, or 45%, said they “would consider leaving their practice or taking an early retirement” if Congress passes the plan the Democratic majority and White House have in mind.
More than 800,000 doctors were practicing in 2006, the government says. Projecting the poll’s finding onto that population, 360,000 doctors would consider quitting.

Greetings,
In fairness and debate, President Obama’s healthcare plan is going to bankrupt small business. Forcing employers to pay an 8 percent penalty or pay for healthcare will drive little hiring or the closing of the doors.
I agree there is a healthcare issue, however, the insurance companies profit margin is only 2%.
Billing from doctors and hospitals is a big culprit of the problem. People with insurance are charged double or triple the rate as opposed tosomeone who does not have insurance. This is to get back what their not making on the uninsured. Hospitals should be NON Profit.
I agree we need to do more for those who cannot afford their own. This bill however, strips away people’s choices and will eventually do away with private healthcare all togethor. The bill is written in such away that private insurers will not be able to meet the mandates of the bill causing everybody to go into government control. I don’t know about you,but I have worked in government along time and they do not run business very well and overall our treatment modalities will suuffer greatly.
Hi Victor,
You make some good points. However, some companies’ profits are more than you stated.

AP
These are last year’s profits in a severe economic recession. There profits rank them placing them 35th on the Fortune 500 list of top industries.
Thanks for the comment.
