CBS Face the Nation video: Colin Powell 2.21.2010

I once respected this great military commander and Former Secretary of State Colin Powell.  However, his judgment in recent times has failed him.  He fell to political pressure to go to war in Iraq under the Bush administration (check out Frontline video Bush’s War).  He knew there were no WMDs and should of resigned and stood with his beliefs instead of endorsing those plans that still plague America today 8 years later.    Then later he endorsed our current leader President Obama who had very little experience in making important decisions in his career.  It is easy now to see our President is lacking in making the correct decisions and his many broken promises have caught up to him (end the 2 wars, withdraw the troops, allow gays in the military, no lobbyists in office, reduce the deficit, improve the economy).

I do want President Obama to succeed but he has surrounded himself with others who have failed the American people such as Bernanke, Geithner, and Rohmer.  I remember how much I disliked President Bush along with Paulson and Bernanke for leading the collapse of our economy.  I figured back then that any new President would do a better job.  So far I am being proven wrong.

Here is a video of his opinion on President Obama on Face the Nation.  I think politically he tries to focus on President Obama’s success, but he has no real examples to demonstrate that.  However,  when he critiques what President Obama could have done better or should have focused on, it is easy to see how accurate his assessments are.  I highlighted the common sense our current leadership is ignoring and embedded the video below if you are interested in listening to the whole video.

Business Week:
Former Secretary of State Colin Powell said the Obama administration, while facing partisan bickering in Congress, isn’t moving fast enough to reduce unemployment and revive the economy.
President Barack Obama is moving “too slowly for the patience of the American people,” Powell, a Republican who endorsed Democrat Obama for president in 2008, said today on CBS’s “Face the Nation” program. “The main attack the American people wanted to see him lead, and I hear it everywhere I go: Fix the economy. Fix the mortgage system, fix the credit problem. Get us our jobs back.”

Mr.Powell, I am so sorry you did not run for the office. It seems we are stuck with a person who does not care about this nation and its directions of travel.
