This past weekend, my wife and I donated alot of stuff. We cleaned out our storage of miscellaneous items. I have always been a packrat all my life and getting rid of stuff I no longer use always feels good. We donated 2 colored televisions, a tandem bike, 3 sets of dumb bells, 8 pairs of men’s shoes (brand new or barely worn), 8 – 10 pairs of women’s shoes (same thing), digital clock cd radio, probably 10 boxes of clothes, 2 boxes of household appliances, and 5 more boxes of miscellaneous stuff.
The guys did not help me unload the stuff in the back of goodwill like I read in a yelp review. However it was fairly quick to unload and put it in the sort bins. They give you a blank receipt which hopefully makes a difference on my taxes this time. You could tell these guys were tired by their facial expressions and surely don’t like working on a Sunday.
One cool thing did happen while we dropped the stuff off. The worker checked out the tandem bike after I unloaded it and rode it around into the store. Then another worker came out and sat in the back seat. They were both taking a much needed break and cruising around in the back lot and for a moment they seemed to happy. We waived to them as we left, and they cheerfully waived back. I wish I had shot a video of it, but it wasn’t expected. They were like kids on a Christmas morning.
