Lately, I have been adjusting the priorities in my life. It definitely coincides with my eating habits and becoming fit and healthy. My focus has been on enjoying life more and being more responsible to our environment. After reading so many other blogs, I realized I was part of the consumerism that exists in our part of the world. I am grateful for what I have, but I don’t need most of it.
During my last move, my wife and I donated alot of items we had accumulated over the years. Even though it felt good to help others, I realized that I was caught up in the American way of life of just buying new stuff and junking the old stuff. It is a waste of my money and more importantly a waste of resources.
I want to buy a new laptop just because technology keeps getting better and faster. The truth is my current laptop is fine and does everything I need it to do. In fact, I still have an old desktop in storage, a fairly new netbook that is hardly used, and an ipod touch that I didn’t need but wanted (I do use it everyday though). I will attempt to sell them all on ebay and hold off as long as I can before I buy a new laptop.
I know the new prioritizing in my life has something directly to do with the vegan lifestyle. I have the idea of moving into an airstream and getting rid of most of my belongings and living an even more humble life. I also think this will eliminate buying wastefully since you can only take what you can fit in it. I still am researching the idea and my only concern is safety. Having great information online has been helpful and reading blogs about others who have done it and are still doing it makes me want to do it more. Thank goodness my wife and I are on the same page.

You are lucky that you and your wife are on the same page. It is 2x as hard to change lifestyles when only 1/2 of the couple is on board.
Hi Tasha,
I think this type of change by only half the couple could pry them apart. Thanks for stopping by.
Cheers!
