Lately, my phone has been acting weird. I kept getting the message “phone memory running low” even though I had already deleted many applications. On top of this, I started getting incoming text memory rejected because of not enough phone memory.
So just like reformatting a computer and re-installing the o/s, I decided to do that with my LG Optimus V android phone. It was quite easy to do. If you need to do it too, the steps are hit the left hard key menu button>settings key>privacy>factory data reset>reset phone. This does erase all the data and installed apps on the phone with the exception of the operating system and the Virgin Mobile bloatware.
After I did this, the phone was back to normal and those error messages went away. I just needed to decide which programs I permanently wanted to add and keep. The only two programs are Mr Number Call Block and Juice Defender. As for other games for entertainment, I will continuously add and delete them on a regular basis.
One last thing, the phone reset to the factory default settings didn’t affect my phone number at all. My phone still retained the same number and I didn’t need to do anything online or call Virgin Mobile. This process was easy and painless. It is also in the VM factory manual.

Is there a way to control what programs start by default when phone is turned on?
Hi Dan,
I don’t think there is a start menu like a computer that controls all the programs you wanted loaded up on start up. However, you can download an app manager or task manager to kill apps and free up memory. One I have tried is Task Killer Pro and it fairly good.
There are plenty of these apps online so read the reviews and see what will work for you.
Thanks for stopping by.
Just came across this & wanted to answer the question about a way to control what apps load on start up. I have Android Assistant from the Android Market. There is a Startup Manager in it where you can control which User & System apps are killed on startup. It does a lot of other things – cache cleaner & quick boost really help keep phone memory clean & running fast. Hope this gets to you & it helps!
Thank Cherrie. Hope that can help Dan out. I may even check it out. Thanks for stopping by and have an excellent day. Cheers!
