These HP TouchPad Wi-Fi 32 GB 9.7-Inch Tablet Computer were sold out when they dropped them to $99 (16GB) and $149 (32GB) plus tax and shipping. Obviously, most people purchased them with the intent to resell them because the parts alone to build one of these gadgets is over $300. So HP sold the devices at a lost and many people are reselling them for a quick profit.

You can buy them on ebay, craigslist, and amazon. The current price range is in the mid $200 and I expect the price to drop again as soon as HP restocks it inventory as announced a few weeks ago. It didn’t make sense to me since they dropped the prices to clear out current inventory and to close up shop for hardware. I have read it is a strategy for them to sell the hardware division for more money.

I have been considering buying either a google tablet or an old ipad 1. Ipad 2 is already out, and it has been leaked that an ipad 3 is already in the making, so just like ipod touches, I am hoping the price of ipad gen 1 will drop another $100 or so on the official announcement.
