Yesterday, I took my mom shopping in search of a universal power adapter. I had bought one of these 5 years ago for a router but couldn’t remember where I got it from. It cost me about $20 back then.
We decided to go to Target and I went specifically to the battery section. Then I went to the power surge area. Still could not finding what I was looking for so I asked an employee. All he could tell me is they don’t carry it since I could not find it. He did attempt to look for it in the automotive section, but I told him the item I was searching for plugs into the wall and not the cigarette lighter. He recommended radio shack which was nearby.
I went to Radio Shack and there were two employees in the store. No customers at all. One employee eagerly jumped up to assist me. I told him I was looking for a universal power adapter and that the previous one I had came with 4 prongs on the end with an adjustable power switch. He checked quickly and said they don’t have those but offered me a specific one he could make. I scanned the prices which would have been about $60 and told him no I would continue my search.
Honestly, I was surprised not to find it there.
There was an Office Depot nearby and thought what the heck, I will give them a try. The store was pretty empty. I looked in the two sections I thought this item would be located which is batteries and surge protector. No luck. So I asked an employee and he had no idea of what I was talking about. He radio’d another employee (apparently they all wear headsets in this store to communicate to each other) to figure out if he heard of what I described. This guy immediately said they don’t carry that and referred me to Radio Shack.
I explained to him I just been there and they don’t carry it. He looked surprised but could offer me no solution. My mom started to think what I told her we were shopping for didn’t exist. In the end, I went online and ordered it from Amazon.com. Yes, they do exist and I was able to get it for less than $20 no tax and free shipping. I have to say it seems it is best to shop online nowadays.
