Showtime Homeland series

My wife and I decided to watch the first season of Homeland on Showtime after it won some award shows. Personally, I went in with the idea of not liking the premise. After I watched it, I think the show was pretty good, but not great. If you want to see a great show, I would recommend Downton Abbey on PBS. Now that is a great show.

As for this Showtime series Homeland, I think I will watch it next season to find out what happens. They keep saying this show is great and addictive, but I think that is an overstatement. The only thing that makes this show interesting is that two marines returning from the “war” have turned traitors and now are with the enemies. It is up to the CIA to get them before we get attacked again. Other than that the story is not much of substance.

The acting by the two main characters Mandy Patinkin and Claire Danes is great. I think if they were not the stars of the show, I probably would not have watched past episode one. Seriously, they make the show for me.
