A week off blogging

A lot can happen in a week. Earlier this week another singer passed away that I used to listen to in the 1980s.  Whitney Houston was a great singer when she first came out. Back then her voice and music was unique to me.  They are stilling showing clips of her a few days after.

It’s funny that drinking and drugs kill so many people, but most people do it.  Everyone justifies it as helping them relax, but I don’t buy it.  Many of my family and friends do it and don’t think anything of it.  I do believe long term it will only hurt their health.

It’s like trying to tell someone to quit smoking because it is bad for them. They will never listen to you. Even after a heart attack or cancers forming, they just “enjoy” it too much, while the quality of life leaves them.

Just so you know, I don’t drink, smoke or do drugs.  I always thought that people getting wasted were people just not happy in their life and trying to escape something.  Obviously, even rich people like Houston, Michael Jackson, and many other entertainers are not really happy that they resort to drugs to escape their issues.

I don’t believe in religion, but I do believe in God.  I hope all their souls are now at peace.

Like you, I live clean and know plenty of people who unfortunately resort to this tactic in order to “rest.” It’s my fear that one day they will end up like Houston, whom I was never a really big fan of. Great voice, yes, but never a fan.

I had a friend who started smoking because it “helped him to relax.” How do you know if you’ve never done it before? Bent logic. He finally quit after seeing his parents both die of health complications caused by smoking but the damage is done after being around that smoke since a kid.

As far as Houston goes, my gut instinct is that her death will be ruled “accidental” and caused by drowning, not the drugs. While she may have downed a cocktail of alcohol and prescription drugs, they probably didn’t cause her death. It was their effects that caused her to drown, which killed her.
