It is actually good to see original Obama supporters who loved him before the election because they believed all of the promises he made, now actually criticize what they see after the fact. I remember Bill Maher praising President Obama in the beginning of all the great stuff that was going to happen. I think everyone was drinking the koolaid, but at least they aren’t all going back for refills.

HBO Bill Maher on President Obama

Below is an editorial by Bill Maher that recently appeared on Huffington Post:

Is This as Good as It Gets From Obama?

Yeah, I’m disappointed, too. I thought we were sweeping into power; I thought change meant Change. I believed all that talk about another First 100 Days, a la Roosevelt. Well, that didn’t happen. The question is, is this as good as it gets from Obama, or is he pacing himself? He may have a four and eight-year plan and they included a first year of just gettin’ to know you and not gonna rock the boat too much. Well, Mission Accomplished on that.

It’s still too early to lose hope in a guy as smart and talented as Barack Obama. But I would counsel him to remember: If you’re going undercover to infiltrate how Washington works, so you become one of them for a while, to gain their confidence, well, it can be just like all those movies where a cop goes deep, deep, DEEP undercover with drug people and — f***, he’s a drug addict, too!

Logic tells me that really smart guys like Obama and Rahm Emanuel know better what they’re doing than I do. They certainly know things I don’t know. I think we have the same general goals and beliefs. And this is what they do for a living — I wouldn’t even try it. But I will never stop having this doubt: that maybe if they had really charged in there riding the forceful energy of the historic election, and acted like it was an emergency moment — which it was — they could have gotten some big victories right up front, and there really could have been an historic “first hundred days” for this administration and the country. Instead of what happened, which is the Obamas got a dog. It could have worked — the country had given its endorsement to “…and now for something completely different.” There might have been a way to knock the Republicans back on their heels right away, with the argument that “The American people demanded we make these changes, and you are unpatriotic to stand in their way.”

We’ll never know. Because that moment passed, and now it could follow the pattern of World War I and devolve into boring, static trench warfare where nothing really gamechanging happens while both sides slowly bleed to death.

That said, I do not forget that if the election had gone the other way, we’d right now have a barter economy and be at war with Honduras.

Why do companies profit from sick people? That is a good question. We are the only nation that allows that. Not sure if that is true, but there are sure a lot of drug commercials on TV literally all the time. That means they have a lot of money just to advertise.

Michael Moore has a new movie out that looks very interesting. It looks like it will be another high quality documentary. I saw him doing the rounds this weekend. First on the Larry King show and then next on the Bill Maher show. I was actually flipping channels both times and stopped only because he was on those shows promoting his movie. These are not shows I generally watch.

What I thought was interesting is the both Bill Maher and Michael Moore were big Obama supporters before the election. They both drank the kool aid and exhibited complete zombie loyalty and were absolutely convinced Obama was the man to make all the changes and that he would follow through with every promise. Now, watching the latest clip with both these people, you can see they both are disappointed with Obama and recognize he was just another politician making empty promises to change the world.

I think it is good they have at least started to question Obama’s decisions and actions instead of repeating the Obama supporter mantra “give him some more time.. he inherited a bad situation that Bush really mucked up.” Come January he will be in office for one year. We can review the major promises made by seeing how many troops have been brought home from Iraq, how he was going to fix the economy, and how he was going to get a bipartisan Congress together on all the issues. If you want an early report card on those issues, then you can simply say he is failed thus far.

This is the only live link I could find on the Bill Maher video of Michael Moore. Youtube has taken down all the other links already. I think Maher has realized the truth and Moore is still in denial about Obama’s real position on issues and actual delivery of promises made and broken. Did you drink the kool aid like they did?

I just finished watching this movie and thought it was very entertaining. It’s more of a mockumentary that is put together very well. Bill Maher is actually well versed in the material and his interviews with different religious leaders are interesting because of the questions he asks. Some people get offended when you talk about God and religion and there were definitely some here that showed it.

There were many parts I laughed even though this wasn’t a comedy. I think the humor is found in the way people view life and religion and how they allow it to influence the way they live. If you get a chance, definitely watch it.
