It looks like the intern will be next seasons serial killer he might have to go after. The preview for the finale I saw last week shows the Colin Hanks DoomsDay Killer holding Dexter’s baby with the intention of possibly sacrificing him. We will see tonight how it all turns out.

OK, fine, that’s just our wishful thinking. But Showtime has renewed Dexter for a seventh and eight season (season six is currently airing), and as uberfans we see this as a sign that Dexter Morgan still will be Saran-Wrapping his prey when he’s old and grey and stalking via walker. Count on it.

Last month, reports surfaced that Michael C. Hall’s contract negotiations had hit a stalemate, and the fate of Dexter was in jeopardy. According to Deadline, Showtime had offered M.C.H. $20 million for two more seasons, but the star wanted $24 million. No word yet on what number they reached, but thankfully they were able to iron out the details.

Dexter has been holding strong in the ratings: The season six premiere was the show’s highest-rated premiere ever, drawing 2.2 million viewers. That’s a 24 percent bump up from season five.

Anyone else looking forward to Dexter: The Golden Years? Or do you think two more seasons will be enough?

I think if showtime decided not to renew the show for Dexter season 6, the ending of this finale would have allowed Dexter to get rid of his dark passenger.  The same way Lumen lost her dark passenger in the end.  If they ended the series in season 5, I think I would of been fine with it.   We have had 5 excellent seasons of the show.

The show Dexter is wrapping up this weekend and it looks to be a great finale judging by the previews.  I am very surprised the quality of the show has not diminished these last 5 seasons.  The writing and storyline has been great. I am very happy to hear there will be a season 6 series.  For those of you who need to watch more serial killer types of stories after this season ends you can check out the movie  Mr Brooks.

This won’t surprise anybody: Showtime is getting ready to announce a renewal for “Dexter” within the next week or so.

The serial-killer saga just had its second highest ratings ever on Sunday night, delivering 2.5 million viewers, up 43% from the fifth-season premiere. That almost certainly means the upcoming finale on December 12 will set a new viewership record.

In 2008, Showtime confidently renewed Dexter for two seasons. That’s not likely to happen this time, since key talent deals will need to be renegotiated before the show’s seventh season.

Later tonight, I will be watching the finale of True Blood. You know the ones about vampires and werewolves on showtime. Since this show is ending that means Dexter season 5 will be on in a couple of weeks.
