This year we should see some new electric cars put out by a big auto maker. I hope they do well sales wise so other companies will follow. I know many of them are trying to create one that gets long distance on the batteries, but most people needs will be met with 100 mile distance per charge.

Tom Hanks has a cool electric car. Here is the link to his electric car video.

I saw this video today about an Italian car company and its electric car idea: Tazzari Zero EV. It is small like the smart car but I have seen smart cars blazing at 80 mph on the freeway.

Whenever the Republicans and Democrats debate about any issue, it always winds up as accusations of each party name calling each other instead of focusing on the issues at hand. It only seems natural to defend your side. The problem is they (both parties) represent us (the American people) and it seems they always focus on appeasing corporate America and lobbyists instead.

Is this the same thing for our newly elected president? Republicans would say yes and Democrats would say no. Below I put a video of a “Green Party” candidate below to see what his take is on the current administration since is not loyal to the Reps or Dems.

Regardless of whether you like Nader or not, his arguments are valid. He does offer some insight from a more objective view than your typical Republican or Democrat Senator or Congressman.

One of the decisions Obama has made that I like is his stance on the EPA. He is allowing states to have more strict emissions policy than the Federal laws permit. I don’t understand why Bush didn’t allow this. I guess it would have to do something with lobbyists. Regardless, I am happy with Obama’s decision.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) –

U.S. President Barack Obama will start reversing former President George W. Bush’s climate change policies on Monday with steps to raise fuel efficiency standards and grant states authority to limit greenhouse gas emissions from cars.

An administration official said late on Sunday that Obama, who took office last week, would direct the Environmental Protection Agency to reconsider a request by California to impose its own strict limits on automobile carbon dioxide emissions.

The request was denied under the Bush administration, prompting California and several other states to sue. The official said a final decision by the EPA would likely take several months.

Another official familiar with the policy shift said Obama would instruct the EPA to approve the waiver allowing California to impose the rules. The state asked the new administration last week to reconsider its request.

If the EPA reverses the previous ruling, more than 12 U.S. states could proceed with plans to impose strict carbon dioxide limits.

California wants to reduce the emissions by 30 percent by 2016 — the most ambitious federal or state effort to address global warming.

Not that there is a ton of people buying cars now, but when the economy improves in the future at least more cars will have better mileage. If we become a more “green” country, then maybe we will have these “true” electric cars instead of just hybrids sooner than later.
